Die Konzerte mit Hans Lüdemann zum Jahresauftakt im LOFT haben schon Tradition. Ausnahmsweise stellt er dieses Mal kein ganz neues Programm vor, sondern ist mit dem TRIO IVOIRE zu Gast, seinem langjährigen Projekt mit dem afrikanischen Balaphonmeister Aly Keita. 1999 startete dieses Trio mit einer WDR-Produktion im LOFT, damals mit Steve Argüelles am Schlagzeug. Seit 2013 ist Christian Thomé der Dritte im Bunde des Trios.
Ihre aktuelle CD „Enchanted Forest“ ist ein Ode an den Wald. Sie wurde dieses Jahr bei Intuition veröffentlicht, im LOFT produziert, und war auf der Longlist für den Vierteljahrespreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik 04/2020. Dabei wurde das Trio erheblich erweitert mit den Gesangsstimmen von Simin Tander, Tamara Lukasheva und Amanda Becker, mit Alexandra Grimal am Tenorsaxophon und Lisa Wulff am Bass.
Am 3. Januar 2021 im LOFT ist das Trio ganz pur zu hören – mit Stücken aus „Enchanted Forest“ neuen Improvisationen und vielleicht dem ein oder anderen Stück aus dem Repertoire. Das TRIO IVOIRE ist mit seiner einzigartigen Besetzung ein Original geblieben und hat Maßstäbe gesetzt für transkulturelle kreative musikalische Zusammenarbeit. Spannung, Energie und Frische sind garantiert.
Im September war das Trio zuletzt live auf der Bühne in der Alten Oper Frankfurt. Dazu schrieb Norbert Krampf in der FAZ:
„Die wendige, eng verzahnte Interaktion des Trios verrät sein langjähriges Zusammenspiel und eine intuitive Verständigung. Über weite Strecken wird improvisiert, Soli gehen nahtlos ineinander über, prächtige Bögen halten, von kleinen Ausnahmen abgesehen, die Spannung und heben die Zeit gleichsam auf. Natürlich fesselt das präzise Taktgefühl des Trios. Darüber hinaus begeistern die changierenden Klangfarben… Mit seiner unkonventionellen, trotzdem viele Anknüpfungspunkte bietenden Musik figuriert das Trio Ivoire als geradezu idealtypisches Beispiel für einen echten Dialog weit voneinander entfernter Kulturen, die gemeinsame, gedanklich wie emotional überzeugende Positionen finden.“

The concerts with Hans Lüdemann at the beginning of the year in the LOFT have already become a tradition. This year is an exception, as he is not presenting a completely new program this time, but is a guest with TRIO IVOIRE, his long-standing project with the African balaphone master Aly Keita. This trio started in 1999 with a WDR production at the LOFT, at that time with Steve Argüelles on drums. Since 2013 Christian Thomé is the third member of the trio.
Their current CD „Enchanted Forest“ is an ode to the forest. It was released this year on Intuition, produced at LOFT, and was longlisted for the Quarterly Prize of the German Record Critics 04/2020, and significantly expanding the trio with the vocals of Simin Tander, Tamara Lukasheva and Amanda Becker, with Alexandra Grimal on tenor saxophone and Lisa Wulff on bass.
On January 3rd, 2021 at the LOFT, the trio can be heard in its purest form – with pieces from „Enchanted Forest“ new improvisations and perhaps a piece or two from the repertoire. TRIO IVOIRE has remained an original with its unique line-up and has set standards for transcultural creative musical collaboration. Excitement, energy and freshness are guaranteed.
In September, the trio was last live on stage at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. Norbert Krampf wrote about it in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung:
„The trio’s agile, tightly meshed interaction betrays their many years of playing together and an intuitive understanding. Over long stretches there is improvisation, solos merge seamlessly into one another, splendid bows, with small exceptions, hold the tension and, as it were, suspend time. Of course, the trio’s precise sense of time is captivating. Beyond that, the iridescent timbres delight…. With its unconventional music, which nevertheless offers many points of contact, the Trio Ivoire figures as an almost ideal example of a genuine dialogue between cultures far removed from one another, which find common positions that are convincing both intellectually and emotionally.“
