Fest entschlossen, gemeinsam entwickelte Ideen in ein Projekt während des zweiten Lockdowns zu transformieren, stellten sich die Pianistin Clara Vetter (DE), Gitarrist Håvard Funderud (NO) und Bassist Petter Asbjørnsen (NO) der Herausforderung, kreative Arbeitsmethoden auf Distanz zu finden. Sie schickten sich gegenseitig geschriebene und aufgenommene Kompositionsfragmente und entwickelten sie weiter bis sich ein Stück fertig anfühlte.

Determined to transform ideas developed together into a project during the second lockdown, pianist Clara Vetter (DE), guitarist Håvard Funderud (NO) and bassist Petter Asbjørnsen (NO) took up the challenge of finding creative working methods at a distance. They sent each other written and recorded composition fragments and developed them further until a piece felt finished.
Finding each other’s latest creations in a shared dropbox folder and being able to give new inspiration to the round while working on it themselves felt like an intimate pen pal relationship – writing letters to others or even to yourself, looking at the developments of your own ideas in the collective work.
Eventually, the band developed a concept to translate their digital work at a distance into a live performance. While Vetter played a concert in Copenhagen, she had Funderud and Asbjørnsen control her computer from Oslo via a Zoom meeting. Sharing mouse and screen, the two colleagues were able to hear recordings of themselves on the Copenhagen stage from Norway that had been made during the compositional processes. Vetter improvised live with these played samples and in this way the band managed to transcend space and time conventions in a way.
Now that the band is fortunately able to meet again in the same place, live playing together is again integrated without abandoning previously explored new elements. A sampler of recordings by all three band members and improvising together with their “past selves” carries a transgression of space and time into the collective live performance.

Renowned drummer Fabian Arends will join the band especially for this evening, adding to the musical proceedings with his colorful playing.
