Das Meretrio ist ein seltenes Beispiel für eine echte Band, die seit achtzehn Jahren zusammen spielt und das Publikum, durch ihre ständige Suche nach neuen musikalischen Wegen, fasziniert. Das Trio hat bereits acht unterschiedliche Alben veröffentlicht, die für die Entwicklung des Stiles der Band entscheidend waren.
2016 veröffentlichte das Meretrio „Óbvio“ und erhielt eine Vier-Sterne-Rezension und den Titel “Best Album of the Year” vom Downbeat Magazine. 2019 hat das Trio noch zwei Alben veröffentlicht: „Passagem“ mit Heinrich von Kalnein (Saxophon, Flöte) und das Doppelalbum „Music for Small and Large Ensembles“.
Der Bandleader und Komponist Emiliano Sampaio wechselt virtuos zwischen Posaune und Gitarre, manchmal auch innerhalb der Songs hin und her, experimentiert mit Loops und digitalen Effekten, überlagert Klänge und erzeugt unerwartete Farben.
2021 veröffentlichte das Meretrio ein neues Album “Choros”, das sich ganz der brasilianischen Musik widmet. “Choros” wurde für die deutsche Schallplattenkritik nominiert und erhielt tolle Kritiken.
Das Meretrio ist international gefeiert und gastierte auf renommierten Festivals und Clubs in Brasilien (u.a. Savassi Jazz Fest, Jazz na Fábrica), Europa (u.a. Most und Jazz, Bayerisches Jazz Weekend, Porgy & Bess, Bremen Sende Saal) und Australien (u.a. Perth Jazz Fest, Jazz Lab).

The Meretrio is a rare example of a real band that has been playing together for eighteen years and fascinates the audience, through its constant search for new musical paths. The trio has already released eight different albums, which have been crucial for the development of the band’s style.
In 2016, the meretrio released „Óbvio“ and received a four-star review and the title of „Best Album of the Year“ from Downbeat Magazine.The trio has released two more albums in 2019: „Passagem“ with Heinrich von Kalnein (saxophone, flute) and the double album „Music for Small and Large Ensembles“.
Bandleader and composer Emiliano Sampaio virtuously switches back and forth between trombone and guitar, sometimes within the songs, experimenting with loops and digital effects, layering sounds and creating unexpected colors.
In 2021, the meretrio released a new album „Choros“, dedicated entirely to Brazilian music. „Choros“ was nominated for the German Record Critics and received great reviews.
