John Taylor Remembrances ist das filigrane Zusammenspiel, welches das Duo von Florian Ross / Lucas Leidinger und das Trio Besson/Sternal/Burgwinkel vereint. Auch an diesem Konzertabend zeigt sich hier besonders die Handschrift von John Taylor, denn dieser hat zweifelsohne die drei Pianisten (aus drei unterschiedlichen Generationen) geprägt.

Das Duo Ross/Leidinger haben jüngst das Album Checks & Balances veröffentlicht und interpretieren sowohl eigene Kompositionen und Musik von Joni Mitchell.

Im zweiten Set feiert das Trio um Airelles Besson seine Köln-Premiere: Ihr ätherisches Trompetenspiel hat eine gesangliche Qualität, die in kleinen Formaten ebenso zur Geltung kommt wie vor großem Orchester. Man spürt auf Anhieb die Komplizenschaft, die Airelle Besson mit ihren Kölner Mitspielern Sebastian Sternal und Jonas Burgwinkel hegt. Der Sound der klassisch geschulten Bläserin, die schon viele Auszeichnungen bekam, ist eingebettet in ein durchdachtes und beseeltes, lichtdurchflutetes Triokonzept. Bei dieser Begegnung bleibt vieles, aber beileibe nicht alles, dem Zufall überlassen!

John Taylor Remembrances is the filigree interplay that unites the duo of Florian Ross / Lucas Leidinger and the trio Besson/Sternal/Burgwinkel. On this concert evening, too, the signature of John Taylor is particularly evident, for he has undoubtedly left his mark on the three pianists (from three different generations).

The duo Ross/Leidinger have recently released the album Checks & Balances and interpret both their own compositions and music by Joni Mitchell.

In the second set the trio around Airelles Besson celebrates its Cologne premiere: Her ethereal trumpet playing has a vocal quality that comes into its own in small formats as well as in front of a large orchestra. One immediately senses the complicity that Airelle Besson has with her Cologne collaborators Sebastian Sternal and Jonas Burgwinkel. The sound of the classically trained wind player, who has already received many awards, is embedded in a thoughtful and soulful, light-flooded trio concept. In this encounter, much, but by no means everything, is left to chance!
