MOCH nennt sich ein Duo mit der Vibrafonistin und Marimbaspielerin Patricia Brennan und dem Perkussionisten, Schlagzeuger und Turntablisten Noel Brennan aka Arktureye. Der Name ihres Duos ist ein Wort aus der indigenen Sprache Nahuatl ihrer Heimat Mexiko und bedeutet so viel wie „alle, alles“.
Beide leben mittlerweile im New Yorker Stadtteil Brooklyn, wo sie sich einen Namen als Improvisationskünstler:innen auf der Grenze zwischen Jazz, Neuer Musik und Sonic-Art gemacht haben. Für ihren eigenwilligen Sound schöpfen sie aus dieser Vielzahl musikalischer Einflüsse und experimentieren intensiv mit ihrer akustischen und elektronischen Instrumentierung, um zu einer Symbiose aus analoger Percussion und digitaler Klangbearbeitung zu gelangen. Dafür konzentrieren sich die Brennans auf den gemeinsamen Flow im kreativen Prozess der Improvisation und erforschen so den Klangraum als Labor ungewöhnlicher ästhetischer Konzepte.

Für die zweite Hälfte des Konzerts laden sie die internationalen Künstler Trevor Dunn am Bass und Alexander Hawkins am Piano ein.

MOCH is the name of a duo featuring vibraphonist and marimba player Patricia Brennan and percussionist, drummer and turntablist Noel Brennan aka Arktureye. The name of their duo is a word from the indigenous Nahuatl language of their native Mexico and means “all, everything”.
Both now live in Brooklyn, New York, where they have made a name for themselves as improvisation artists on the border between jazz, new music and sonic art. For their idiosyncratic sound, they draw on this multitude of musical influences and experiment intensively with their acoustic and electronic instrumentation to achieve a symbiosis of analog percussion and digital sound processing. To achieve this, the Brennans concentrate on the common flow in the creative process of improvisation and thus explore the sound space as a laboratory for unusual aesthetic concepts.

For the second half of the concert, they have invited international artists Trevor Dunn on bass and Alexander Hawkins on piano.
