Wir haben uns dazu entschlossen, ihr zu Ehren das Konzert trotzdem zu geben und ihren Spirit und was wir bisher mit ihr erarbeitet haben mit Euch zu teilen.
Euer VokalOrchester NRW
Das Unerwartete, das Überraschende suchen. Sich vom Moment mitreißen lassen. Musik, geschaffen von einem Kollektiv außergewöhnlicher Sänger:innen. Aufregend, komplex, lustig, experimentell, spontan, atmosphärisch, vielfältig, bewegend.
Kernstück des Repertoires sind eigene Arrangements und Kompositionen, immer mit der Öffnung in die Improvisation – die Herz und Seele des VokalOrchesters NRW ist. In der Improvisation kann sich die kreative und stimmliche Energie der Sänger:innen voll entfalten: kollektiv, solistisch oder in kleineren Gruppen.
Beim Konzert am Samstag den 1. Juni 2024 im LOFT hat das VokalOrchester eine besondere Sängerin zu Gast:
die Improvisations-Ikone RHIANNON (USA).
Rhiannon ist eine Gesangskünstlerin mit der Vision von Musik als Mittel für Innovation, Heilung, Transformation und sozialen Wandel. Rhiannons Buch über ihr Leben und ihre Lehrmethoden Vocal River, The Skill and Spirit of Improvisation wurde 2013 veröffentlicht.
Rhiannon ist eine lebendige Sängerin, Performance-Künstlerin, Komponistin und Lehrerin. Sie lebt und arbeitet auf ihrer Farm auf der Big Island of Hawai’i und nutzt ihre singende Scheune Ha Lau Leo Nani (=The Gathering Place) als Lehr- und Aufführungsort, um Kultur und Gemeinschaft zu ehren.
2018 stand das VokalOrchester NRW beim Jazz-Festival Moers erstmals auf der Bühne.
Seitdem begeisterte es das Publikum auf regelmäßigen Tourneen durch NRW und bei Festivalauftritten (VocCologne 2019, TIN-Festival Düsseldorf 2020, wir4Kultur Kultursommer Niederrhein 2021, Approximation Festival Düsseldorf 2021, Cologne Jazzweek 2022). Neben den eigenen Projekten arbeitete das VokalOrchester NRW mit Künstler:innen wie Theo Bleckmann (USA) , Rhiannon (USA), Johannes Bär (AT), dem Barockensemble arte del mondo, den Arrangeuren Daniel Mattar und Martin Fondse (NL) oder den Bands Efterklang (DK) und Sigur Rós (ISL) zusammen.

Unfortunately we have to inform you that Rhiannon will not be singing with us tomorrow as planned due to health reasons.
We are very sad about this and wish Rhiannon all the very best on her road to recovery.
We have decided to give the concert in her honor anyway and to share her spirit and what we have worked on with her so far with you.
So we are very happy if you come anyway!

Look for the unexpected, the surprising. Letting yourself be carried away by the moment. Music created by a collective of extraordinary singers. Exciting, complex, funny, experimental, spontaneous, atmospheric, diverse, moving.
At the heart of the repertoire are original arrangements and compositions, always with an opening into improvisation – which is the heart and soul of the VokalOrchester NRW. Improvisation allows the singers‘ creative and vocal energy to fully unfold: collectively, as soloists or in smaller groups
At the concert on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at the LOFT, the VokalOrchester has a special singer as a guest:
improvisation icon RHIANNON (USA).
Rhiannon is a vocal artist with a vision of music as a vehicle for innovation, healing, transformation and social change. Rhiannon’s book about her life and teaching methods, Vocal River, The Skill and Spirit of Improvisation, was published in 2013.
Rhiannon is a vibrant, gifted singer, performance artist, composer and teacher. She lives and works on her farm on the Big Island of Hawai’i and uses her singing barn Ha Lau Leo Nani, The Gathering Place as a teaching and performance space to honor culture and community.
