Nico Klöffer präsentiert an diesem Abend zwei neue Projekte. Seit etwa einem Jahr schreibt der Bassist Stücke für sein Trio mit Kontrabass, Posaune und Altsaxophon und erforscht dabei die Klangfacetten dieser Besetzung. Nuancen im Zusammenspiel werden gut hörbar, jedes der drei Instrumente ist gleich wichtig und hat viel Freiheit in Sound und Gestaltung. Ausgangspunkt dieses Projekts war die Idee, den Bass, vor allem mit Bogen gespielt, in mehrstimmige Musik gleichwertig einzufügen.

In der zweiten Hälfte des Konzertabends wird Nico‘s neu gegründetes Septett seine Premiere geben. Diese Band vereint einige seiner langjährigen musikalischen Weggefährt:innen aus der Kölner Szene und widmet sich Eigenkompositionen von Nico und Jannis Sicker.

Nico Klöffer presents two new projects on this evening. For about a year now, the bassist has been writing pieces for his trio with double bass, trombone and alto saxophone, exploring the sound facets of this instrumentation. Nuances in the interplay become clearly audible, each of the three instruments is equally important and has a lot of freedom in sound and design. The starting point for this project was the idea of integrating the bass, especially when played with a bow, into polyphonic music on an equal footing.

In the second half of the concert evening, Nico’s newly formed Septet will give its premiere. This band brings together some of his long-time musical companions from the Cologne scene and is dedicated to original compositions by Nico and Jannis Sicker.
