Das Jazz-Quintett wurde im Mai 2018 (damals als Quartett) gegründet. Die Musik verbindet Jazz und klassische Elemente mit polyphonen Melodien und Raum für Improvisation, sowie ausgefeilte Arrangements, die durch die besondere Instrumentierung der Band außergewöhnlich facettenreich sind.
Ihr Debütalbum On the Brink of Light wurde im Oktober 2021 veröffentlicht und stellt eine klangliche Reise dar. Die Stücke sind teilweise instrumental, oft jedoch mit Texten in englischer und lettischer Sprache.
Lathyrus arbeitet kontinuierlich an ihren Kompositionen und Arrangements sowie an ihrem eigenen Sound und begeistert durch ihren kreativen Zugang zur Musik und ihre musikalische Entwicklung.

The jazz quintet was founded in May 2018 (then as a quartet). The music combines jazz and classical elements with polyphonic melodies and room for improvisation, as well as sophisticated arrangements that are exceptionally multifaceted due to the band’s special instrumentation.
Their debut album On the Brink of Light was released in October 2021 and represents a sonic journey. The pieces are partly instrumental, but often with lyrics in English and Latvian.
Lathyrus is continuously working on her compositions and arrangements as well as her own sound and inspires with her creative approach to music and her musical development.
