Christoph Gallio, der Schweizer Saxophonist und Komponist, der in Baden bei Zürich lebt, wurde 1957 geboren. Der autodidaktische Musiker studierte klassisches Saxophon bei Iwan Roth am Konservatorium Basel und Musik bei Steve Lacy in Paris. Später absolvierte er einen Master of Arts in Transdisziplinarität an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK).
In seinen jüngeren Jahren spielte er mit Goldfischen oder arbeitete mit Tänzern – auch in Japan.
Er spielte mit den meisten Improvisatoren in der Schweiz und Buenos Aires. Unter anderem mit Irene Schweizer, Urs Blöchlinger, Mani Neumeier, Peter Kowald, Fred Frith, Haco, Tetsu Saitoh, Phil Minton, Pablo Diaz, Marcelo von Schultz, Olie Brice, Andrew Lisle, Cath Roberts, LIO. Er hat mit Musikern wie Irene Aebi, William Parker, Rashied Ali, Matthew Ostrowski, Gerry Hemingway, Sven-Åke Johansson, Olaf Rupp, Jan Roder, Oli Steidle, Andrea Neumann, Ernst Thoma, Julian Sartorius, Nicolas Stocker, Paula Shocron, Sergio Merce, Alistair Zaldua, Phil Durrant, Roger Turner, Dominic Lash, Mark Sanders und vielen mehr aufgenommen. Ausgedehnte Tourneen haben ihn nach China, Taiwan, Japan, Kasachstan, Russland, Kanada, USA, Argentinien, Chile, Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz geführt.
Er hat bei vielen Festivals gespielt, wie Taklos Zürich, Toronto Jazz Festival, Vision Festival NYC, Almaty Jazz Festival, MaerzMusik Berlin, Vancouver Jazz Festival, Yokohama Jazz Festival, Arkhangelsk Jazz Festival.
Er ist seit 35 Jahren Leiter des Trios DAY & TAXI, derzeit mit Silvan Jeger am Bass und Gerry Hemingway am Schlagzeug. Im Duo spielt er mit Markus Eichenberger, Roger Turner, Phil Durrant und Alistair Zaldua. Hauptsächlich komponiert er für seine eigenen Projekte. Der neueste Auftrag für eine Komposition kam vom Schweizer Streichertrio Mondrian Ensemble mit der britischen Sängerin Robin Adams. Gallio betreibt seit 1986 sein eigenes Label PERCASO.

Dominic Lash (*1980) ist ein frei improvisierender Kontrabassist und E-Gitarrist, den das Free Jazz Collective als „außergewöhnlichen kreativen Musiker“ bezeichnet hat. Er schreibt und führt auch komponierte Musik auf und erforscht und schreibt als Akademiker über Film.
Er spielt oder hat mit Musikern wie John Butcher, Joe Morris, Evan Parker, Pat Thomas und Nate Wooley gespielt und trat mit dem verstorbenen Tony Conrad, Steve Reid und John Russell auf.
Zu seinen Hauptprojekten gehört das Dominic Lash Quartet; unter seinen regelmäßigsten Mitarbeitern sind Angharad Davies, Matthew Grigg, Tim Hill, Josh Sinton und Alex Ward.
Solokontrabass-Stücke wurden für ihn von Komponisten wie Jürg Frey, Richard Glover und Éliane Radigue geschrieben.
Er hat auch mit Ensembles wie Apartment House, dem Bozzini Quartet und Parkinson Saunders aufgetreten.
Lash hat im Vereinigten Königreich, Österreich, Kanada, Finnland, Frankreich, Deutschland, Niederlande, Norwegen, Portugal, Spanien, Schweiz, Türkei und den USA gespielt.
Zu den Festival-Auftritten gehören Akbank Jazz Festival (Istanbul), All Ears (Oslo), Amplify 2011: stones (New York), Audiograft (Oxford), Freedom of the City (London), Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Hurta Cordel (Madrid), Konfrontationen (Nickelsdorf), LMC Festival (London), Manchester Jazz Festival, Ruhr Jazz Festival, Suoni per il Popolo (Montreal) und Tampere Jazz Happening.
Seine Arbeit wurde auf verschiedenen Radiosendern ausgestrahlt, unter anderem auf BBC Radio 1 und 3 und Deutschlands SWR2, und auf Labels veröffentlicht, darunter Another Timbre, b-boim, Bead, Cathnor, Clean Feed, Compost and Height, Confront, Discus, Emanem, Empty Birdcage, Erstwhile, 577, FMR, Foghorn, Iluso, Intonema, Leo, Meenna, Mikroton, NoBusiness, Otoroku, Raw Tonk, Takuroku und Tresor.
Fast ein Jahrzehnt lang war er in Oxford (UK) ansässig und spielte eine zentrale Rolle bei den Aktivitäten der Oxford Improvisers; einen großen Teil des Jahres 2011 verbrachte er in Manhattan. 2013 und 2014 nahm er an Take Five teil, dem Berufsentwicklungsprogramm der Serious. Von 2011 bis 2022 war er in Bristol ansässig, wo er an der Organisation von Konzerten unter Bannern wie Bang the Bore, Insignificant Variation und Several 2nds beteiligt war.
Seit Anfang 2022 ist er in Cambridge (UK) ansässig, wo er gemeinsam mit Gitarrist N.O. Moore die Soundhunt Improvisationsmusik-Serie organisiert, jeden letzten Sonntag des Monats im Thrive on Norfolk Street.
2015 gründete er ein digitales Label für seine nicht kategorisierbaren Arbeiten namens Spoonhunt. Seine ersten drei CDs wurden 2021 und die vierte 2022 veröffentlicht.

Mark Sanders (*1960) lebt in Birmingham (UK) und ist ein Schlagzeuger/Percussionist, der für sein Spiel im Bereich Free Jazz und Free Improvisation bekannt ist.
Er hat eine Karriere hinter sich, die viele Musikstile und Genres umfasst, darunter Rock, Theater, Oper, zeitgenössische klassische Musik und zeitgenössische künstlerische Situationen. Er hat mit vielen renommierten Improvisationsmusikern gespielt, darunter Roscoe Mitchell, Wadada Leo Smith, Roswell Rudd, Henry Grimes, Trevor Watts und Christian Marclay. Er spielt unter anderem in den Gruppen von John Butcher, Evan Parker, Paul Dunmall, Elliott Sharp, Elaine Mitchener, Gabrielle Mitelli und „The Flame“ mit Robert Mitchell und Neil Charles, „Shifa“ mit Pat Thomas und Rachel Musson und einem Duo mit Nicole Mitchell.
Mark hat bei Festivals wie Nickelsdorf, Ulrichsburg, FMP, Roskilde, Glastonbury, Womad, Son d’Hiver, Banlieues Bleues gespielt und in Brasilien, Kanada, Japan, Mosambik, Marokko, Russland, Südafrika, Türkei, USA gearbeitet und auf Biennalen in Australien, Schweiz, Deutschland, Holland, Spanien und Italien gespielt.
Mark Sanders leitet seine eigene Gruppe „CollapseUncollapse“ mit einer Veröffentlichung auf 577 Records und erscheint auf über 190 CD- und Vinyl-Veröffentlichungen auf Labels wie Cadence, Emanem, Fataka, FMP, FMR, 30 Hertz, Hat Ology, Intakt, Leo, MultiKulti, No Business, Otoroku, Red Toucan, Shrike, Slam, Treader, Trost, Virgin, We Insist! und Zoar.
Er trat in Stewart Lees BBC 2 TV-Sendung „Comedy Vehicle“ auf und in vielen Live-Übertragungen auf Radio 3-Musikshows einschließlich Jazz on 3, Somethin‘ Else, Late Junction und Here and Now. Er ist Principal Lecturer am Leeds Conservatoire, Visiting Lecturer an der Royal Academy of Music und Birmingham Conservatoire und war Gastdozent am Goldsmiths College, Guildhall School of Music and Theatre, Dartington Music and Summer School, Huddersfield und York Universities.

The Swiss saxophonist and composer Christoph Gallio, who lives in Baden near Zurich, was born in 1957. The self-taught musician studied classical saxophone with Iwan Roth at the Basel Music Conservatory and music with Steve Lacy in Paris. Later he completed a Master of Arts in Transdisciplinarity at the University of the Arts in Zurich (ZHdK).
In his younger years he played with goldfish or worked with dancers – also in Japan.
He played with most of the improvisers in Switzerland and Buenos Aires. Among others with Irene Schweizer, Urs Blöchlinger, Mani Neumeier, Peter Kowald, Fred Frith, Haco, Tetsu Saitoh, Phil Minton, Pablo Diaz, Marcelo von Schultz, Olie Brice, Andrew Lisle, Cath Roberts, LIO. He is the leader of the trio DAY & TAXI for 35 years, currently with Silvan Jeger on bass and Gerry Hemingway on drums. In duo he plays with Markus Eichenberger, Roger Turner, Phil Durrant and Alistair Zaldua. Mostly he composes for his own projects. The newest commission for a composition was by Swiss string trio Mondrian Ensemble with British singer Robin Adams. Gallio has been running his own label PERCASO since 1986.

Dominic Lash (*1980) is a freely improvising double bassist and electric guitarist who the Free Jazz Collective has called an „exceptional creative musician„. He also both writes and performs composed music and, as an academic, researches and writes about film.
He plays or has played with musicians such as John Butcher, Joe Morris, Evan Parker, Pat Thomas, and Nate Wooley, and performed with the late Tony Conrad, Steve Reid, and John Russell.
His main projects include The Dominic Lash Quartet; among his most regular collaborators are Angharad Davies, Matthew Grigg, Tim Hill, Josh Sinton, and Alex Ward.
Solo double bass pieces have been written for him by composers including Jürg Frey, Richard Glover, and Éliane Radigue.
He has also performed with ensembles including Apartment House, the Bozzini Quartet, and Parkinson Saunders.

He was based in Bristol from 2011 to 2022, where he was involved in organising concerts under banners including Bang the Bore, Insignificant Variation, and Several 2nds.
Since the beginning of 2022 he has been based in Cambridge (UK), where he organizes the Soundhunt improvised music series, with the guitarist N.O. Moore, on the last Sunday of every month at Thrive on Norfolk Street.
In 2015 he started a digital label for some of his more uncategorisable work, called Spoonhunt. Its first three CDs were released in 2021 and its fourth in 2022.

He has played with many renowned improvising musicians, including Roscoe Mitchell, Wadada Leo Smith, Roswell Rudd, Henry Grimes, Trevor Watts and Christian Marclay.
