With her trio LUAH, Elsa Johanna Mohr could already be heard at the LOFT in June 2019 as part of her bachelor’s degree, and with LUAH she is nominated this year for the German Jazz Award in the category Album Vocal of the Year. On this evening, together with guitarist Flávio Nunes, she dedicates herself to the colorful diversity of Brazilian music with well-known Brazilian classics such as Carinhoso or Tempo de Amor as well as with original compositions, thus creating a broad overview of a culturally so rich and beautiful country. The two musicians share a common musical language with which they express the Brazilian love of life and the well-known longing of the Brazilians. Now they present their joint album Passadinha, which will be released in January 2023 in the 96th episode of Jazz thing Next Generation on the Double Moon/Bertus label.

The clear diction and the unforced style of Mohr’s singing make „Passadinha“ a little gem – the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung already certified her to sing „as if she had grown up on Sugarloaf Mountain“ – to which Nunes, who can be heard on both acoustic and electric guitar, contributes a lot. He masters the most complex rhythms with breathtaking ease, adding depth and an extra dimension to the casual vocals.

For their performance at Cologne’s LOFT, the duo has also invited two wonderful guests. The musicians André de Cayres (bass) and Maxim Zettel (percussion) are also at home in Brazilian music and have already played together with Elsa Johanna Mohr and Flávio Nunes on other occasions.
