Das VokalOrchester NRW erforscht das Unerwartete, das Überraschende. Wir erschaffen Musik in einem Stimm-Kollektiv: Aufregend, außergewöhnlich und experimentell – immer angetrieben durch die Energie des Moments.
Herz und Seele unseres Repertoires ist die Improvisation. In ihr entfaltet sich die kreative und stimmliche Energie unserer Sänger*innen, solistisch oder in kleinen Gruppen.
Wir begeistern das Publikum auf Tourneen durch NRW und darüber hinaus, einschließlich renommierter Festivals wie der Cologne Jazzweek, der voc.cologne oder dem Approximation Festival Düsseldorf. Auch arbeiten wir immer wieder mit internationalen Größen zusammen, zum Beispiel Theo Bleckmann, Rhiannon und den Bands Efterklang, Robert Ames und Jonsí von Sigur Ros zusammen.
Dieses Jahr gehen wir mit Martin Fondse auf Tournee.
Fondse ist nicht nur Pianist, Komponist/Arrangeur und Leiter seiner eigenen Ensembles, sondern auch ein sehr gefragter Mentor und Orchesterleiter. Er ist bekannt für seine Fähigkeit, Menschen zusammenzubringen, durch seine Musik, sein persönliches und professionelles Verhalten, seinen Humor und seine optimistische Lebens- und Zukunftseinstellung.
International arbeitete er mit dem brasilianischen Star Lenine, Peter Erskine & Doudou N’Diaye Rose, Pat Metheny, Terry Bozzio, Matthew Herbert und Basement Jaxx vs. The Metropolitan Orchestra (Australien). Fondse erhielt verschiedene Kompositionsaufträge vom North Sea Jazz Festival, der Big Band des Hessischen Rundfunks und dem Niederländischen Rundfunk. Er komponierte und arrangierte Musik für eine Vielzahl von Ensembles und Orchestern, darunter das Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, das Metropole Orchestra, das Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra und das Netherlands Wind Ensemble.
Martin Fondse entwickelt ein 45-minütiges Konzertprogramm für das Vokalorchester NRW. Unter dem Titel Vox humana moderna werden sich das VokalOrchester NRW und Martin Fondse künstlerisch mit neuen Wegen der Verbundenheit, aber auch Problemen wie Entfremdung durch digitale Kommunikation auseinandersetzen. Das Stück ist inspiriert von der Mono-Oper La voix humaine (die menschliche Stimme) von Francis Poulenc, die auf einem 1930 veröffentlichten Theaterstück von Jean Cocteau basiert.

The VokalOrchester NRW explores the unexpected, the surprising. We create music in a vocal collective: exciting, extraordinary and experimental – always driven by the energy of the moment.
Improvisation is the heart and soul of our repertoire. This is where the creative and vocal energy of our singers unfolds, as soloists or in small groups.
We inspire audiences on tours through NRW and beyond, including renowned festivals such as Cologne Jazzweek, voc.cologne and the Approximation Festival Düsseldorf. We also work with international greats such as Theo Bleckmann, Rhiannon and the bands Efterklang, Robert Ames and Jonsí from Sigur Ros.
This year we are going on tour with Martin Fondse.
Fondse is not only a pianist, composer/arranger and leader of his own ensembles, but also a much sought-after mentor and orchestra leader. He is known for his ability to bring people together through his music, his personal and professional demeanor, his humor and his optimistic outlook on life and the future.
He has worked internationally with the Brazilian star Lenine, Peter Erskine & Doudou N’Diaye Rose, Pat Metheny, Terry Bozzio, Matthew Herbert and Basement Jaxx vs. the Metropolitan Orchestra (Australia). Fondse has received various commissions from the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Big Band of the Hessischer Rundfunk and the Dutch Broadcasting Corporation. He has composed and arranged music for a variety of ensembles and orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Metropole Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Netherlands Wind Ensemble.
Martin Fondse is developing a 45-minute concert program for the Vokalorchester NRW. Under the title Vox humana moderna, the VokalOrchester NRW and Martin Fondse will artistically explore new ways of connection, but also problems such as alienation through digital communication. The piece is inspired by the mono-opera La voix humaine (the human voice) by Francis Poulenc, which is based on a play by Jean Cocteau published in 1930.
