Preisträgerkonzert des Young Jazz Talent Award 2023 – ein Preis der Ringbeck Foundation – Piano Only: Paul Kueppers
Kueppers‘ speziell projektbezogen geschriebene Musik ist architektonisch, energetisch, dynamisch und ist beeinflusst durch Traditionen afroamerikanischer Musik, elektronischer Musik russische Moderne und Postromantik.
Auf einer anderen Ebene befasst sie sich mit introspektiven Themen, wie beispielsweise den Höhen und Tiefen postmodernen Lebens, psychologischen Phänomenen und der persönlichen Heilung.
Ergänzt durch das moderne und explosive Schlagzeugspiel von Jakob Görris und die emotional investierte Bassarbeit von Sofia Eftychidou schafft das Trio in seiner bewussten und respektvollen Arbeitsweise eine sich stetig transformierende dreidimensionale Klanglandschaft, die der Band freies und natürliches improvisatorisches Interplay erlaubt und allen Hörer*innen zum Eintauchen offen stehen soll.

Kueppers‘ specially project-written music is architectural, energetic, dynamic, and is influenced by traditions of African American music, electronic music Russian modernism, and post-Romanticism.
On another level, it deals with introspective themes, such as the ups and downs of postmodern life, psychological phenomena, and personal healing.
Complemented by the modern and explosive drumming of Jakob Görris and the emotionally invested bass work of Sofia Eftychidou, the trio’s deliberate and respectful approach creates a constantly transforming three-dimensional soundscape that allows the band free and natural improvisational interplay and is meant to be open to all listeners for immersion.
