Proyecto Colonia wurde als Projekt einer neuen Schaffensperiode der Komponistin, Arrangeurin und Pianistin Melissa Pinto konzipiert, die im Herbst 2017 ihre Heimat Kolumbien verließ, um in Köln und Graz neue musikalische Inspiration zu gewinnen.
Mit ihrer dritten Veröffentlichung als Leaderin hat sie eine eklektische Zusammenstellung von Werken voller Leidenschaft und Spannung geschaffen. Sie synthetisiert und baut auf die reichen Musiktraditionen Kolumbiens auf und erweitert sie durch einen orchestralen kompositorischen Ansatz.
Auf diesem Album treffen die zwei einzigartigen kolumbianischen Gastsängerinnen Urpi Barco und Lucía Pulido auf das zehnköpfige Ensemble, das aus in Köln lebenden und dort bereits etablierten Instrumentalist*innen besteht.

Proyecto Colonia was conceived as a project of a new creative period for composer, arranger and pianist Melissa Pinto, who left her native Colombia in the fall of 2017 to gain new musical inspiration in Cologne and Graz.
With her third release as a leader, she has created an eclectic set of works full of passion and excitement. She synthesizes and builds on the rich musical traditions of Colombia and expands them with an orchestral compositional approach.
On this album, the two unique Colombian guest singers Urpi Barco and Lucía Pulido meet the ten-piece ensemble, which consists of instrumentalists living in Cologne and already established there.
