Drei Kölner Musiker, zwei Synthesizer, ein Schlagzeug – und Kompositionen, die eigentlich für eine Band geschrieben wurden, die es nie geben sollte. Mit diesem ungewöhnlichen Konzept tritt das neue Trio Bucks Bicycle in die Pedale.
Schlagzeuger Philipp Buck schrieb seine rhythmisch komplexen Stücke ursprünglich für eine imaginäre Rockband. Die Route war klar, doch die Frage Colnago, Bianchi oder doch Cinelli noch offen. Die Antwort fand er mit den noch jungen aber schon renommierten Pianisten und Synthesizer-Spielern Simon Below und Jan Lukas Roßmüller, die beide in verschiedenen Besetzungen aber auch als Solisten unterwegs sind. Die drei übersetzen die Kompositionen in ein neues Format und nehmen dabei ordentlich Tempo auf.
Bucks Bicycle bewegt sich im Spannungsfeld zwischen durchkomponierter Dichte und freiem Raum. Der Sound des Trios ist eine eigenwillige Synthese aus elektronischen Klangwelten, filigraner Intimität und energetisch explosiver Ekstase – oder um beim Fahrrad zu bleiben, eine eigenwillige Etappenfahrt aus elektronischen Industrielandschaften, überraschend intimen Bergankünften und energetisch explosiven Sprints ins Ziel.

Three musicians from Cologne, two synthesizers, a drum kit – and compositions originally written for a band that was never meant to exist. With this unusual concept, the new trio Bucks Bicycle is hitting the road.
Drummer Philipp Buck originally wrote his rhythmically complex pieces for an imaginary rock band. The route was clear, but the question of Colnago, Bianchi, or perhaps Cinelli remained open. He found the answer in the young but already renowned pianists and synthesizer players Simon Below and Jan Lukas Roßmüller, both of whom perform in various ensembles as well as solo. The three translate the compositions into a new format, picking up considerable speed in the process.
Bucks Bicycle navigates the tension between tightly composed density and open space. The trio’s sound is an idiosyncratic synthesis of electronic soundscapes, delicate intimacy, and energetically explosive ecstasy—or, to stick with the bicycle metaphor, an idiosyncratic stage race through electronic industrial landscapes, surprisingly intimate mountain finishes, and energetically explosive sprints to the finish line.
