Es trifft eine eigens für diesen Abend zusammengestellte Formation aufeinander, die sich ganz der freien Improvisation verschreibt. Die Initiative für dieses Konzert geht von der Posaunistin Carlotta Armbruster und dem Schlagzeuger Jakob Görris aus, die bereits seit Jahren eng zusammenarbeiten – unter anderem im Carlotta Armbruster Trio – und sich auf die Suche nach einer neuen, spannungsvollen Besetzung gemacht haben.
Mit dem renommierten Kontrabassisten Robert Landfermann, der als Professor an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln prägend auf beide Musiker*innen wirkte, sowie der Cellistin Elisabeth Coudoux haben sie zwei starke künstlerische Stimmen gefunden. Coudoux, international in der Szene der freien Improvisation und zeitgenössischen Musik aktiv, steht für eine eigenständige Praxis zwischen klanglicher Forschung, performativen Ansätzen und musikalischer Offenheit.
Im Zentrum des Konzerts steht das gemeinsame Erforschen von Klang und Form im Moment des Entstehens: offen, risikobereit und stets in Bewegung. Vier individuelle Handschriften treffen aufeinander und verweben sich zu einer kollektiven Klangsprache, getragen von präzisem Zuhören, Neugier und Interaktion.

This evening features a lineup assembled specifically for this event, dedicated entirely to free improvisation. The concert is the brainchild of trombonist Carlotta Armbruster and drummer Jakob Görris, who have been collaborating closely for years – including in the Carlotta Armbruster Trio—and have set out to create a new, dynamic ensemble.
In renowned double bassist Robert Landfermann – who, as a professor at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, had a formative influence on both musicians – and cellist Elisabeth Coudoux, they have found two strong artistic voices. Coudoux, active internationally in the scenes of free improvisation and contemporary music, embodies an independent practice that bridges sonic exploration, performative approaches, and musical openness.
At the heart of the concert is the joint exploration of sound and form in the moment of creation: open, willing to take risks, and always in motion. Four individual styles converge and weave together into a collective musical language, carried by precise listening, curiosity, and interaction.
