This gives rise to concerts with a unique character—somewhere between composition and improvisation\, collective and individual voice.\nInspired by and\, in its early days\, in lively exchange with the LIO (London Improvisers’ Orchestra)\, the WIO—founded in 2007 by Gunda Gottschalk\, Christoph Irmer\, and Georg Wissel—stands out as a unique phenomenon among the few large improvisational ensembles in Germany.
