Die Stücke haben ihren Ursprung teilweise im 16. Jahrhundert\, entstanden in den jüdischen Gemeinden rund ums Mittelmeer. The Sephardics versetzen die Songs mit Jazz- und Rock-Elementen und interpretieren sie mit viel Liebe zur Improvisation neu. So entsteht eine mitreißende Mischung zwischen energiegeladen und ruhig\, expressiv und intim.\n2017 gewannen The Sephardics den CREOLE NRW Wettbewerb.\n2019 erschien ihre CD Abre tu puerta und sie wurden mit dem Deutschen Weltmusikpreis RUTH (Förderkategorie) ausgezeichnet. \nhttps://www.sephardics.de/ \nIm Herbst 2024 gehen sie mit einem neuen Programm auf Tour\, unterstützt von zwei herausragenden Musikern. \n\nOren Ambarchi © Barry C Douglas\nDer in Berlin lebende australische Gitarrist und Multiinstrumentalist Oren Ambarchi ist seit drei Jahrzehnten einer der umtriebigsten Experimentalisten in den Randbereichen zwischen Improvisierter Musik\, Freejazz und Noise. Ambarchis Ansatz und seine Kompositionen sind stark geprägt von der Minimal Music und elektronischen Avantgarde des 20. Jahrhunderts: Es sind überlegte\, minimale Arrangements\, sie bestechen durch scheinbare Einfachheit und nutzen die Komponente der Zeit als eigene kompositorische Kategorie. \nhttps://orenambarchi.com/ \n\nRamesh Shotham © Volker Beushausen\nDer südindische Perkussionist Ramesh Shotham hat mit seinen subtilen\, unaufdringlichen Rhythmen eine Vielzahl musikalischer Begegnungen nachhaltig beeinflusst\, und ist so zu einem prägenden Brückenbauer zwischen verschiedenen musikalischen Kulturen geworden.\nShotham wird als einer der erfolgreichsten Perkussionisten des gesamten Kontinents betrachtet. Er stand nicht nur mit führenden europäischen und amerikanischen Jazz- und Rockmusikern auf der Bühne\, sondern spielte auch mit Künstlern aus Afrika\, Australien\, China\, Korea\, Taiwan und mehreren arabischen Ländern. 2018 ist Ramesh mit dem WDR Jazzpreis geehrt worden. \nhttps://shotham.org/ \n\nGemeinsam bearbeiten die Musiker*innen in einer Probenphase die sephardischen Songs mit ihren unterscheidlichsten musikalischen Mitteln und Stilistiken. Some of the pieces originated in the 16th century in the Jewish communities around the Mediterranean. The Sephardics infuse the songs with jazz and rock elements and reinterpret them with a love of improvisation. The result is a rousing mixture of energetic and calm\, expressive and intimate.\nIn 2017\, The Sephardics won the CREOLE NRW competition.\nIn 2019\, their CD Abre tu puerta was released and they were awarded the German World Music Prize RUTH (promotional category). \nhttps://www.sephardics.de/ \nIn autumn 2024\, they will go on tour with a new program\, supported by two outstanding musicians.\nBerlin-based Australian guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Oren Ambarchi has been one of the most active experimentalists on the fringes of improvised music\, free jazz and noise for three decades. Ambarchi’s approach and his compositions are strongly influenced by the minimal music and electronic avant-garde of the 20th century: they are considered\, minimal arrangements\, they captivate with their apparent simplicity and use the component of time as a compositional category in its own right. \nhttps://orenambarchi.com/ \nWith his subtle\, unobtrusive rhythms\, the South Indian percussionist Ramesh Shotham has had a lasting influence on a multitude of musical encounters and has thus become a formative bridge builder between different musical cultures.\nShotham is regarded as one of the most successful percussionists on the entire continent. He has not only performed with leading European and American jazz and rock musicians\, but has also played with artists from Africa\, Australia\, China\, Korea\, Taiwan and several Arab countries.
