It evolves and transforms singing\, and brings it into new\, uncharted territories. IKI is an award-winning\, improvising vocal ensemble of 5 female vocalists from Denmark\, Norway and Finland. The band came together in 2009 and has since then performed and toured all around the Nordic countries and further down in Europe. \nIKI is an ongoing exploration of the human voice with its many facets and sounds. Musically\, IKI takes influence from different styles as pop\, modern classical\, jazz and avant-garde\, but the young women’s deep Nordic roots shine through every aspect of their music. \nIKI released their debut album “IKI” in 2011\, for which they won a Danish Music Award for “Best Vocal Jazz Album”. Their second album “LAVA” was released in 2014\, and they released the EP “DEW” in 2016. \nIn early 2018\, IKI will release their third full-length album “ORACLE” in corporation with well-renowned danish artist and producer Mike Sheridan. With ORACLE they take a step in a new direction\, incorporating electronic elements into their Nordic musical core. The ORACLE experience is an artistic\, cinematic micro cosmos\, putting the natural voice up against the machines and thus creating a picturesque universe of new sounds and creatures! \nIKI work across different art forms and often collaborates with performers and artist in the fields of music\, dance\, film\, theater\, design\, visuals and poetry. \nwww.ikivocal.com\nwww.facebook.com/ikivocal\nwww.youtube.com/ikivocal\nwww.instagram.com/ikivocal \n\nDer Fokus von STIMMUNGEN in 2017 liegt nicht auf Solo-KünstlerInnen\, sondern auf Vokal-Ensembles in ihrer Vielfalt. STIMMUNGEN 2017 lädt zwei herausragende Ensembles der kreativen Stimmkunst ein\, die individuelle und einzigartige Klänge durch Improvisation entwickelt haben. Diese sind keine traditionellen Vokalensembles die mit komponierter Chorliteratur arbeiten\, sondern jene\, die neue Ausdrucksformen entwickeln. Eingeladen werden IKI – ein skandinavisches Ensemble\, und The Art of Escapism (DK). The Art of Escapism\, ein Vokal-Duo\, arbeitet mit minimalistischen Elementen und Live Electronics\, wo Stimme genauso Träger einer Volksmelodie als auch eine verfremdete elektronische Klangfläche sein kann. Sie bringen das nördlichen Flair der Improvisation aus Kopenhagen mit\, wo Vokalmusik eine andere Kultur und Geschichte hat\, als in Deutschland. \n  \nDIE KURATORINNEN DER REIHE \nMascha Corman\n \nSängerin\, Komponistin\, geboren in Düsseldorf\, studierte Jazzgesang an der HfMT Köln u.a. bei Prof. Anette von Eichel und Frank Gratkowski sowie Gehörlosenpädagogik an der Universität zu Köln. Cormans Kompositionen und Konzepte für ihr Quintett „emco“ bewegen sich zwischen zeitgenössischen Jazz\, freie Improvisation und Poesie. Ein starkes Interesse liegt dabei in der Erforschung von instrumentalem und experimentalem\, vokalem Zusammenklang. Das Debütalbum der Band erschien 2016 bei dem renommierten Label „Ajazz“. Sie wirkte als Komponistin\, Sängerin und Stimmkünstlerin bereits in nationalen wie internationalen interdisziplinäre Projekten mit und ist Gründerin der Initiative STIMMUNGEN im Loft Köln. \nwww.maschacorman.de \nThea Soti\n \nSängerin\, Komponistin und Klangkünstlerin\, geboren in Subotica (Serbien) in einer ungarischen Familie. Sie studierte Jazzgesang und Komposition in Hannover\, Köln und Luzern. Ihre Schwerpunkte liegen in der Erforschung freier Improvisationen mit der menschlichen Stimme und in der Komposition für Big Band und Groß-Ensembles. Sie gilt als eine mutige und kompromisslose Stimme\, die sich an der Schnittstelle Jazz\, aktuelle Musik\, avantgardistische Poesie und improvisierte Musik bewegt (Monsters For Breakfast\, RYMM). Sie ist Gründungsmitglied des europäischen KomponistInnenkollektivs SUNG SOUND und seit 2015 kuratiert sie die experimentelle Konzertreihe STIMMUNGEN im Loft in Köln mit. \nwww.theasoti.com \nÜBER STIMMUNGEN \nIn 2015 und 2016 waren sechs herausragende Solo-KünstlerInnen zu Gast bei STIMMUNGEN\, der Initiative für experimentelle und improvisierte Stimmkunst. VokalistInnen unterschiedlichster Art\, darunter Lauren Newton (CH)\, Theo Bleckmann (USA/GER)\, Jen Shyu (USA)\, Sofia Jernberg (SWE)\, Andreas Schaerer (CH) und Sidsel Endresen (NOR)\, fanden ihren Weg nach Köln und Nordrhein-Westfalen. Diese Auswahl an StimmkünstlerInnen sucht weltweit in einer solchen Vielfalt seines Gleichen. Das gemeinsame Thema war\, die menschliche Stimme als ausdrucksstarkes Instrument\, mit außergewöhnlichen und experimentellen Instrumentalklängen\, zusammenzubringen. Zu hören im Solo\, oder im Zusammenspiel mit dafür kuratierten Ensembles\, bestehend aus Kölner MusikerInnen. \n
