Die Arbeit im Klaviertrio ist seine Paradedisziplin – das als Teil eines groß angelegten Projekts 2015 ins Leben gerufene Simon Nabatov Trio bekam schon bald eine eigene musikalische Daseinsberechtigung. Um seine ästhetischen und kompositorischen Finessen auszuloten\, holte sich Nabatov zwei der feinsten Vertreter der jungen Kölner Jazzszene ins Boot: den aus Süddeutschland stammenden Bassisten Stefan Schönegg und den gebürtigen Schweizer Schlagzeuger Dominik Mahnig. \nhttp://www.nabatov.com/ \nhttps://stefanschoenegg.de/ \nAls eingespieltes Tandem kamen die beiden an Bord\, und so konnte die Band sich rasch zu einer Einheit entwickeln\, die sich aufmacht\, das Format Klaviertrio einmal mehr mit großem Ideenreichtum\, blindem gegenseitigem Verständnis und progressivem Zusammenspiel zu bereichern.\n2016 veröffentlichte das Trio die CD Picking Order auf Leo Records\, welche in der Presse auf positive Resonanz stieß.
 Danach spielste das Trio ganze Reihe von Konzerten – bis die Corona-Pandemie alle Aktivitäten unterbrach.\nAnfang 2022 haben sich die drei wieder zusammen gefunden\, um neue Konzerte und Produktionen für 2023-24 zu planen.\nIm Oktober 2022 hat das Trio zwei weiteren Kölner Musiker – Philip Zoubek und Leonhard Huhn – zu einem gemeinsamen Projekt eingelade\, welches im LOFT produziert und aufgenommen wurde und im Oktober 2023 als CD Verbs auf Clean Feed erscheint.\nErmöglicht durch das Musikfonds Ensemble Stipendium FEB-III wird die Band nun ein neues Repertoire komponieren\, aufnehmen und erstmalig aufführen. \nGefördert von: \n        \n\n\n\nSimon Nabatov – piano\nStefan Schönegg – bass\nDominik Mahnig – drums\, live electronics\n \nInformation about prices\, ticket reservations and our opening times can be found here. \n\n\n\n\n\nRussian-born pianist and composer Simon Nabatov has already lived in Cologne for 34 years. In February 2023\, he was nominated for the German Jazz Award in the category Piano (announcement of the winners at the end of April 2023). Working in the piano trio setup is his parade discipline – the Simon Nabatov Trio\, launched as part of a large-scale project in 2015\, soon got its own musical raison d’être. To explore his aesthetic and compositional finesse\, Nabatov brought on board two of the finest representatives of the young Cologne jazz scene: bassist Stefan Schönegg\, who hails from southern Germany\, and Swiss-born drummer Dominik Mahnig. \nThe two came on board as a well-rehearsed tandem\, allowing the band to quickly develop into a unit that set out to once again enrich the piano trio format with a great wealth of ideas\, blind mutual understanding and progressive interplay.\nIn 2016\, the trio released the CD Picking Order on Leo Records\, which was met with a positive response in the press.
 After that\, the trio played quite a few concerts – until the Corona pandemic interrupted all activities.\nIn early 2022\, the three got back together to plan new concerts and productions for 2023-24.\nIn October 2022\, the trio invited two other Cologne musicians – Philip Zoubek and Leonhard Huhn – to join them in a joint project\, which was produced and recorded at LOFT and released as CD Verbs on Clean Feed in October 2023.\nMade possible by the Musikfonds Ensemble Stipend FEB-III\, the band will now compose\, record and perform a new repertoire for the first time.
