September) geht es eine Woche später weiter mit dem zweiten von drei Konzerte mit Simon Nabatov in seinem musikalischen Zuhause\, dem LOFT. \nIm Jahr 2018 gründete Nabatov (Klavier\, Komposition) eine neues Kölner Quartett mit Sebastian Gille (Saxophone)\, David Helm (Kontrabass) und Leif Berger (Schlagzeug). Alle Band-Mitglieder sind Teil der lebendigen & kreativen Kölner Szene\, die in den letzten Jahrzehnten zusehends floriert.\nZwar konnte das Quartett nur wenige Auftritte spielen\, bevor die Covid-19 Pandemie alle weitere Pläne vorübergehend gestoppt hat\, doch die Qualität der Band war von Anfang an unbestritten. Die Gruppe spielt Nabatovs Kompositionen\, manche mehr als 20 Jahre alt\, die meisten Stücke werden jedoch extra für diese Band konzipiert. \nGeladener Gast für dieses 3. LOFT-Konzert des Quartetts ist der amerikanischer Trompeter und Komponist Ralph Alessi\, der aktuell zwischen New York und Bern pendelt.\nIm Laufe seiner Karriere stand er mit Größen wie Fred Hersch\, Steve Coleman\, Ravi Coltrane\, Jason Moran\, Sam Rivers\, Tim Berne\, Uri Caine und vielen anderen sowohl auf der Bühne als auch im Tonstudio. Derzeit nimmt Ralph für das Label ECM auf und wird Ende 2020 an einem neuen Album arbeiten. Als Pädagoge hat er an der Eastman School of Music\, der NYU und der University of Nevada-Reno unterrichtet. All band members are part of the lively & creative Cologne scene\, which has been visibly flourishing in the last decades.\nWhile the quartet was only able to play a few gigs before the Covid-19 pandemic temporarily halted all further plans\, the band’s quality was undisputed from the beginning. The group plays Nabatov’s compositions\, some more than 20 years old\, but most of the pieces are conceived especially for this band. \nInvited guest for this 3rd LOFT concert of the quartet is American trumpeter and composer Ralph Alessi\, who currently commutes between New York and Bern.\nOver his career he has played and recorded with the likes of Fred Hersch\, Steve Coleman\, Ravi Coltrane\, Jason Moran\, Sam Rivers\, Tim Berne\, Uri Caine and many others. Currently\, Ralph records for the ECM record label and will be working on a new record in late 2020. As an educator\, he has taught at the Eastman School of Music\, NYU and University of Nevada-Reno.
