Er lebt und wirkt nun seit über 30 Jahren in Köln.\nVieles von dem\, was Nabatov mit seiner Heimat früher verband\, ist für ihn nicht länger aktuell – sei es politisch oder persönlich. Die Muttersprache und die grandiose Literaturtradition dagegen blieben stets seine treuen Begleiter. Von 2001 bis 2004 veröffentlichte er auf dem Label Leo Records seine Russische Trilogie\, basierend auf drei Literaturwerken politisch verfolgter Autoren: \nMaster and Margarita nach dem gleichnamigen Roman von Mikhail Bulgakov – 2001\nNature Morte nach dem Gedicht von Josef Brodsky – 2001\nA Few Incidences nach Kurztexten von Daniil Kharms – 2004 \nIm Jahre 2018\, nach längerer Pause\, kehrte Simon Nabatov zu einem seiner Lieblingsgenres zurück\, unter dem Titel “Readings” realisierte gleich zwei neue Kompositionen\, welche – neben Konzerten – in zwei weiteren CD Veröffentlichungen auf Leo Records resultierten:\nReadings – Gileya revisited basierend auf Werken der russischen Futuristen.\nReadings – Red Cavalry basierend auf Isaak Babels „Die Reiterarmee“. \nJetzt setzt Nabatov seine Auseinandersetzung mit den Texten von Daniil Kharms fort.\nKharms ist historisch gesehen der erste wahre Autor des literarischen Absurdismus.\nDieser unerschrockene Oppositionelle scheint heute aktueller zu sein als je zuvor. Nabatov bringt eine hochkarätige internationale Besetzung zusammen\, um im Kölner LOFT am 26. September 2021 seine Vision umzusetzen.\nDabei sind: der britischer Sänger Phil Minton\, der deutsche Saxophonist Matthias Schubert\, der holländische Posaunist Wolter Wierbos und der amerikanische Schlagzeuger Jim Black.\nDer Projektname ist ironisch gemeint – die Anspielung aufs englische Wort „harm“ ist bewusst. Es wurde sehr wohl immenser Schaden zugefügt und das berufliche Leben von Kharms systematisch ruiniert. He has now lived and worked in Cologne for over 30 years.\nMuch of what Nabatov used to associate with his homeland is no longer relevant to him – be it politically or personally. Nabatov brings together a top-notch international cast to realize his vision at Cologne’s LOFT on September 26\, 2021.\nThey include: British singer Phil Minton\, German saxophonist Matthias Schubert\, Dutch trombonist Wolter Wierbos and American drummer Jim Black.\nThe project name is ironic – the allusion to the English word “harm” is deliberate. Immense damage was done and Kharms’ professional life was systematically ruined. In the end\, he died a miserable death in a psychiatric institution.\nThis balancing act between the ridiculous\, absurd\, ironic façade and the tragic reality of the existence of the important artist of the Soviet avant-garde still appeals to Nabatov\, and provides the tension – through the selected texts as well as their musical realization.
