Ihr Zusammenspiel ist mal extrovertiert energetisch – mal melancholisch minimalistisch! Simon Belows Kompositionen lassen eine hohe Aktionsfreiheit zu. Im März 2017 gewann das Quartett ein Stipendium der Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken – Stiftung. Ihre Debut-CD\, welche sie im Loft in  Köln aufgenommen haben\, ist bereits im Kasten (Release: Mai 2018 bei „Double Moon Records Jazz thing Next Generation“). Außerdem gewann die Band im August 2018 den international-ausgeschriebenen Avignon-Jazzpreis („Tremplin Jazz D’Avignon„). Der Preis war eine drei-tägige Studio-Produktion im wunderbaren & renommierten „La Buissonne“-Studio. Im August 2019 – genau ein Jahr nach dem letzten Besuch in Avignon – nahmen die vier Musiker also das zweite Album der Band auf. Wie auch beim ersten Album hört man ausschließlich Kompositionen von dem Namensgeber der Band. „Elements of Space“ erschien am 18. September 2020 unter dem renommierten Label „Traumton“.\n2020 erhielt die Band eine Förderung durch die „Initiative Musik“. \nStilistisch bewegt sich das Quartett im Modern Creative mit Einflussen aus dem Im- und Expressionismus. Offen gehaltene Kompositionen des Namensgebers der Band garantieren Hochspannung sowohl beim Publikum als auch immer wieder aufs Neue bei den Musikern selbst. „Nicht alles von A bis Z in einer Komposition festzuhalten\, ist für den Sound der Band elementar. Prozesse der Improvisation und Kommunikation sollen nicht durch zu viele Vorgaben gestört werden.“ So kann es durchaus passieren\, dass phasenweise freie Improvisationen zustande kommen. Their interplay is sometimes extrovertly energetic – sometimes melancholically minimalistic! Simon Below’s compositions allow a high freedom of action. In March 2017\, the quartet won a scholarship from the Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken – Foundation. Their debut CD\, which they recorded at the Loft in Cologne\, is already in the can (release: May 2018 on „Double Moon Records Jazz thing Next Generation“). In addition\, the band won the international-awarded Avignon Jazz Prize („Tremplin Jazz D’Avignon“) in August 2018. In 2020\, the band received funding from the „Initiative Musik“. \nStylistically\, the quartet moves in the Modern Creative with influences from the Im- and Expressionism. Openly held compositions of the namesake of the band guarantee high voltage both for the audience and always anew for the musicians themselves. „Not to capture everything from A to Z in a composition is elementary for the sound of the band. Processes of improvisation and communication should not be disturbed by too many specifications.“ So it may well happen that free improvisations come about in phases. Parts of the theme can come up at different places in the take; duo passages are also conceivable at any time. The focus is on interacting spontaneously and creating exciting music.
