Oftmals politisch aufgeladen und aktivistisch orientiert\, beschränken sich seine Aktivitäten nicht allein auf Musik\, sondern umfassen ebenso Texte\, Bücher\, Medien-Guerrilla (The Yes Men)\, Film\, journalistische Arbeiten und Lehre. Während Nicolas Collins seine sensor- und lautsprecherbestückte Trompete als Hybrid einer Hard- und Software-Modifizierung konzipiert hat\, erweitert Birgit Ulher ihr Instrument auf rein akustisch-mechanische Weise. Die klanglichen Resultate kommen sich oft erstaunlich nahe und verschmelzen gehackte „Trumpelectronics“ mit dem technisch konventionell belassenen Blasinstrument. \nNicolas Collins ist weltweit bekannt als Autor von „Handmade Electronic Music – The Art of Hardware Hacking“ und durch seine vielfältigen Workshops\, die er im Zusammenhang mit dieser Thematik durchgeführt hat. While Nicolas Collins has designed his sensor- and loudspeaker-equipped trumpet as a hybrid of a hardware and software modification\, Birgit Ulher expands her instrument in a purely acoustic-mechanical way.
