Beide haben in der klassischen und der Jazz-Tradition studiert und verfügen über umfangreiche Erfahrungen in anderen Genres. Pop\, Noise\, Neue Musik\, Freie Improvisation und Blues finden ihren Weg in die Kompositionen des Duos. Diese Werke reichen von minutiösen Phasenkompositionen mit Ähnlichkeiten zu den Werken von Philip Glass oder Steve Reich über modulare Konstruktionen bis hin zu Head Tunes und konzeptionellen Strukturen. In allen Stücken mischen sich Komposition und Improvisation. \nMehner ist Deutsche. Sie studierte Jazzgitarre\, klassische Gitarre und Komposition an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln und an der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen. Fields ist Amerikaner. Er ist in der South Side von Chicago geboren und aufgewachsen\, wo er sich in der Free-Jazz-Szene des Viertels entwickelte. \nDie MusikerInnen sind in den Vereinigten Staaten\, in Europa und in Japan bei verschiedenen Veranstaltungen und Festivals aufgetreten. \nMeistens tritt Astraglossa als E-Gitarren-Duo auf. Gelegentlich präsentiert das Duo jedoch auch ein rein akustisches Programm. Each studied in the classical and jazz traditions and has extensive experience in other genres. Pop\, noise\, Neue Musik\, free improvisation\, and blues find their ways into the compositions that the duo performs. These works range from meticulous phase compositions with similarities to the works of Philip Glass or Steve Reich\, modular constructions\, head tunes\, and conceptual structures. All blend composition and improvisation. \nMehner is German. She studied jazz guitar\, classical guitar\, and composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Fields is American. He was born and raised on Chicago’s South Side\, where he developed as part of the neighborhood’s free-jazz scene. \nThe musicians have appeared in venues and festivals throughout the United States\, Europe\, and Japan.\nAstraglossa most often performs as an electric guitar duo.
