Irek Wojtczak\nDie mit herausragenden Jazzmusikern besetzte Kölner Band MARGAUX & die BANDiten ist Grenzgänger zwischen Chanson und Jazz\, Weltmusik und Literatur und seit über 20 Jahren in Deutschland und Polen unterwegs. \nEASTWIND | OSTWIND | WSCHODNI WIATR ist Titel und Inspiration für ihr Projekt mit dem polnischen Saxophonisten Irek Wojtczak\, für den die traditionelle Musik seiner Heimat seit vielen Jahren Ausgangspunkt phantasievoller Improvisationen und Arrangements ist. \nDer unberechenbare Musiker\, der sich klaren Definitionen entzieht\, hat sich in der polnischen Musikszene einen hervorragenden Namen gemacht. Wojtczak hat als Saxophonist über vierzig Alben aufgenommen und wurde von führenden amerikanischen Kritikern der Zeitschriften All About Jazz und The New York City Jazz Record wie Karl Ackermann\, C. Michael Bailey\, Budd Kopman und Ken Waxman gelobt.\nEin Stück aus seinem Album Folk Five erschien auf einem Sampler in der britischen Musikzeitschrift The Wire (November 2015).\nEr trat mit der Fonda/Stevens Group\, David Murray\, Jim Black\, Chris Speed\, Herb Robertson\, Jamie Baum American – Polish Septet\, Mitch & Mitch\, Pink Freud\, Możdżer – Tymański – Chopin project\, Tomasz Dąbrowski & Individual Beings auf. Er ist Mitbegründer der Gruppe Simultaneous Hybrid of Improvised Music and Bioart. \nEs wird spannend\, wenn hier die Virtuosität des Ausnahmegitarristen Frank Wingold\, die Ideen des tschechischen Pianisten Jura Wajda\, polnische Klassiker und Poesie von Margaux aufeinadertreffen\, das melodiöse Schlagzeug von Henning Brand und meisterhaftes Timing von Stefan Rey hypnotische Klanglandschaften entstehen lassen. Wojtczak has recorded over forty albums as a saxophonist and has been praised by leading American critics from the magazines All About Jazz and The New York City Jazz Record such as Karl Ackermann\, C. He is a co-founder of the group Simultaneous Hybrid of Improvised Music and Bioart. \nIt will be exciting when the virtuosity of the exceptional guitarist Frank Wingold\, the ideas of the Czech pianist Jura Wajda\, Polish classics and poetry by Margaux meet\, and the melodious drums of Henning Brand and masterful timing of Stefan Rey create hypnotic soundscapes. This evening will focus on the encounter between these great musicians\, who are always masters of the moment in jazz.
