Drakes Songs – auf drei Studioalben erschienen – sind von verzweifelter Melancholie ebenso geprägt wie von zärtlich aufkeimender Hoffnung und waren Inspirationsquelle und Ausgangspunkt für neue kompositorische Ideen für Gina Schwarz. So wie Drake seine Alben teilweise wie eine Geschichte aufgebaut hat\, die mit jedem Kapitel ein wenig transparenter und verständlicher wird\, kann auch dieses Programm als eigenständiger Zyklus interpretiert werden. \nhttps://www.ginaschwarz.com/ \nEin Holzbläsersatz mit beinahe der gesamten Klarinettenfamilie\, diverse Flöten und eine Rhythmusgruppe präsentieren einen mächtigen Klangkörper. Kontinuierlich wird Spannung aufgebaut und die SolistInnen kommen aufs Beste zum Einsatz. Melancholische Parts\, starke Melodien\, viel Rhythmus und einige Far out Passagen formen die Musik\, die gute Laune macht\, Tiefe hat und voller Lebendigkeit ist. \n\nMultiphonics Festival – gefördert von:\n           \n\n\n\n\nGina Schwarz – composition & arrangement\, bass\nDaniel Manrique-Smith – flute\nAnnette Maye – clarinet\nMona Matbou Riahi – clarinet\nThomas Savy – bass blarinet\nClemens Salesny – bass clarinet\nLucas Leidinger – piano\nMahan Mirarab – guitar\nDirk-Peter Kölsch – drums \nInformation about our opening times can be found here.\n\nAustrian jazz bassist and composer Gina Schwar – Composer in Residence 2020 & 2021 at the Multiphonics Festival in Cologne – drew inspiration for this current program from British folk singer\, guitarist\, and composer Nick Drake (1948–1974).\nIt was only after his early death that he became a cult star\, and today he is admired and celebrated for the beauty\, transparency\, and depth of his music. Drake’s songs—released on three studio albums—are characterized by desperate melancholy as well as tenderly burgeoning hope\, and were a source of inspiration and starting point for new compositional ideas for Gina Schwarz. Just as Drake structured some of his albums like a story that becomes a little more transparent and understandable with each chapter\, this program can also be interpreted as a self-contained cycle. \nhttps://www.ginaschwarz.com/ \nA woodwind section comprising almost the entire clarinet family\, various flutes\, and a rhythm section present a powerful sound. Tension is built up continuously and the soloists are given the best possible opportunities to shine. Melancholic parts\, strong melodies\, lots of rhythm\, and some far-out passages shape the music\, which puts you in a good mood\, has depth\, and is full of vitality.
