Der aus Hamburg stammenden Trompeter und Komponist Michel Schroeder präsentiert erstmalig seine working band im LOFT. Nachdem er viele Erfahrungen mit größeren Ensembles gesammelt hat, kehrt er mit dieser Formation zum Ausgangspunkt seines Schaffens zurück. Im Fokus steht die Improvisation, das Zusammenspiel und die ursprüngliche, rohe Energie des Jazz, eingerahmt von den inspirierenden und vielseitigen Kompositionen des Bandleaders.

Im Mai 2023 erscheint nun das Debüt Album des Ensembles SHORTCUTS bei hey!Blau Records.
Das Album beschäftigt sich mit dem Einstieg in die Freiberuflichkeit als Musiker mitten in der Pandemie, und der immer wieder aufkeimenden Frage, ob es im Leben und in der Karriere Abkürzungen / Shortcuts gibt. Die auf dem Album und im Konzert zu hörenden Kompositionen umfassen die ganze stilistische Bandbreite des Jazz im 21. Jahrhundert und fordern die Musiker dabei immer wieder heraus, an die Grenze ihrer Fähigkeiten zu gehen.

The trumpeter and composer Michel Schroeder from Hamburg presents his working band at LOFT for the first time. After gaining a lot of experience with larger ensembles, he returns to the starting point of his creative work with this formation. The focus is on improvisation, interplay and the original, raw energy of jazz, framed by the inspiring and versatile compositions of the bandleader.

In May 2023, the debut album of the ensemble SHORTCUTS will now be released on hey!Blau Records.
The album deals with the entry into freelancing as a musician in the midst of the pandemic, and the ever-burgeoning question of whether there are shortcuts / shortcuts in life and career. The compositions heard on the album and in concert encompass the entire stylistic range of jazz in the 21st century, while constantly challenging the musicians to push the limits of their abilities.
