Vor allem seine Musik aus den 1960er Jahren beeindruckt durch die Vielfalt an Klangfarben\, rhythmischen Motiven und Melodiebildungen. Jedes Stück ist eine Welt für sich und folgt eigenen musikalischen Gesetzen. Es ist daher ein gleichermaßen herausforderndes und spannendes Vorhaben\, diese Kompositionen zu spielen und auf ihrer Grundlage zu improvisieren. \nMatthias Petzold hat nun eine Quintettbesetzung zusammengestellt\, um eine ganzes Programm mit den Stücken von Wayne Shorter zu gestalten. Especially his music from the 1960s impresses with the variety of timbres\, rhythmic motifs and melodic formations. Each piece is a world unto itself and follows its own musical laws. It is therefore an equally challenging and exciting undertaking to play these compositions and improvise on their basis. \nMatthias Petzold has now assembled a quintet line-up to create an entire program of Wayne Shorter’s pieces.
