Salome Amend, Vasco Furtado und Luise Volkmann lernten sich 2020 auf einem Festival für improvisierte Musik kennen und entdeckten schnell eine gemeinsame musikalische Richtung. Im Zusammenspiel entsteht oftmals ein Mix aus perkussiver Melodik und lyrischem Spiel mit Noise und Folklore-Elementen.
Die Interaktion steht dabei im Vordergrund. Räume schaffen und einander zuhören: hierbei sind jedoch keine musikalischen Grenzen gesetzt.
Sie zögerten nicht lange und so entstand ein Jahr später ihr erstes Album Aforismos auf dem portugiesischen label Phonogram Unit.

“Da es sich bei dieser Platte um eine der ersten Begegnungen des Trios handelt, fällt auf, dass gewisse musikalische Strömungen darin bereits so stark zu spüren sind, die diesem Werk eine ausgeprägte Identität verleihen und daher teilweise enthüllt werden. Im Gegensatz zu Improvisationen, die auf die Explosivität und Ausdruckskraft der Musiker setzen, gibt es in „Aforismos“ eine klare Präferenz für Musik mit minimalistischen und reduktionistischen Konturen. Allerdings gibt es in dieser Musik auch den Versuch, Brücken zu bauen zwischen Free Jazz und freier Improvisation, die hier als zwei Pole erscheinen, die durch ein musikalisches Kontinuum verbunden sind.”

Salome Amend, Vasco Furtado and Luise Volkmann met in 2020 at a festival for improvised music and quickly discovered a common musical direction. Their interplay often results in a mix of percussive melodicism and lyrical play with noise and folk elements.
The interaction is in the foreground. Creating spaces and listening to each other: here, however, there are no musical boundaries.
They did not hesitate for long and a year later their first album Aforismos was released, on the Portuguese label Phonogram Unit.
About the recording session Joāo Morado wrote in Beatsforpeeps.com:
“Since this record is one of the first encounters of the trio, it is noticeable that certain musical currents are already so strongly felt in it, giving this work a distinct identity and therefore partially revealed. In contrast to improvisations that rely on the explosiveness and expressiveness of the musicians, in “Aforismos” there is a clear preference for music with minimalist and reductionist contours. However, in this music there is also an attempt to build bridges between free jazz and free improvisation, which appear here as two poles connected by a musical continuum.”
