Was\, wenn die ersehnte Ruhe nicht eintritt? \nNach der Veröffentlichung des 2023 erschienenen Albums Storm Before The Calm hat Jan Alexander mit seiner Band die akustische Vision des Projekts in den letzten Jahren maßgeblich weiterentwickelt. Alexanders wichtigstes künstlerisches Anliegen als Bandleader ist es\, die Persönlichkeiten der einzelnen Musiker:innen bestmöglich zur Geltung zu bringen. In seiner Musik arbeitet er oft mit ungeraden Taktarten\, dies macht seine Stücke aber weder abgehoben noch sperrig. Sie sind zuweilen komplex\, aber dank ihrer melodischen Qualitäten überaus hörenswert. \nIn seinem Projekt vereint Alexander einige der spannendsten musikalischen Newcomer:innen ganz Europas. Alle bringen dabei ihre eigenen\, individuellen Handschriften ein\, die sich im Zusammenspiel gegenseitig hervorragend ergänzen. Die eher instrumental angelegte Rolle der Sängerin Anna Serierse trifft auf das punk-beeinflusste\, konventionsbrechende Gitarrenspiel von Teis Semey\, während Sebastian Mattebos konsequent melodiefokussiertes Spiel einen verbindenden Gegenpol schafft. Part of the appeal of some lies in the certainty that they are finite. Anticipating the calm will make you cherish the storm. But what happens if the storm continues? What if the longed-for calm never arrives? \nSince the release of the 2023 album Storm Before The Calm\, Jan Alexander and his band have significantly developed the project’s acoustic vision over the past few years. Alexander’s most important artistic concern as a bandleader is to bring out the personalities of the individual musicians as best as possible. In his music he often works with odd time signatures\, yet this makes his pieces neither esoteric nor unwieldy. They are at times complex\, but thanks to their melodic qualities\, thoroughly rewarding to listen to. \nIn this project\, Alexander brings together some of the most exciting musical newcomers from across Europe. Each contributes their own individual voice\, which complement one another beautifully in the interplay. Singer Anna Serierse’s more instrumentally conceived role meets the punk-influenced\, convention-breaking guitar playing of Teis Semey\, while Sebastian Mattebo’s consistently melody-focused playing creates a connecting counterpoint.
