Ihr Album nannten sie nach dem kleinen Dorf Lavin in den Schweizer Bergen\, wo das Publikum trotz Lawinengefahr an ihr Konzert kam und spontan ein Fest veranstaltete. Es folgten weitere Konzerte mit Fred Frith und Urs Leimgruber. Dann gingen die beiden\, wie so oft im Jazz\, ihre eigenen Wege. Am Memorial Festival von Irène Schweizer 2024 in Zürich spielten Niggli und Courvoisier nach 25 Jahren erstmals wieder zusammen. Das Simple Trio ist ihre am längsten bestehende Band. Das Trio verwebt auf höchstem Niveau Komposition mit Improvisation und Groove. Die nicht zu überhörende Komplexität der Musik wird von einer stürmischen Fröhlichkeit und Abenteuerlust begleitet\, geprägt von einer «durchgehend süchtig machenden Energie» im Zusammenspiel. Moderated by Julia Kaiser (PdSK e.V.). \nThe concerts start after a short break following the talk. \n\nThe Swiss duo Lucas Niggli and Sylvie Courvoisier toured for the first time 25 years ago. They named their album after the small village of Lavin in the Swiss mountains\, where the audience came to their concert despite the risk of avalanches and spontaneously organised a party. Further concerts with Fred Frith and Urs Leimgruber followed. Then\, as is so often the case in jazz\, the two went their own ways. At the 2024 Irène Schweizer Memorial Festival in Zurich\, Niggli and Courvoisier played together again for the first time in 25 years. And how the sparks flew! \n\nAt the intersection of avant-garde jazz and new classical music\, Anna Webber’s work is celebrated as visionary and captivating: as saxophonist\, flutist\, composer and bandleader. The Simple Trio is her longest-running band. The trio interweaves composition with improvisation and groove at the highest level. The music’s complexity\, which cannot be ignored\, is accompanied by a tempestuous cheerfulness and adventurousness\, characterised by a ‘consistently addictive energy’ when playing together.
