April 2003. \nSeither haben die drei Musiker auf vielen Tourneen und Konzerten ihre Musik kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt und vertieft\, nachzuhören auf bislang fünf CDs (alle im LOFT aufgenommen) – kwast (Konnex)\, unearth (nuscope)\, palaë (Leo)\, geäder (gligg) sowie oblengths\, Anfang 2016 erschienen bei Leo Records.\nDas neuste Werk Canberra ist Ende Oktober 2023 sowohl als digitale Veröffentlichung als auch als Vinyl auf Trokaan erschienen. \nKaufmann/Gratkowski/de Joode vereinigen die Transparenz zeitgenössischer Kammermusik – das Einbeziehen von Stille ebenso wie das Hinübergleiten in Geräuschbereiche\, die dann wieder von Relikten fast tonaler Klavierakkorde umgedeutet und durchbrochen werden – mit der Energie\, Pointiertheit und Unberechenbarkeit des Jazz und anderer rhythmisch aggressiverer Musiken. \nDie Musik des Trios war von Anfang an frei improvisiert\, aus dem Moment geboren. Es gab und gibt keine Proben und Absprachen\, keine konzeptionellen Vorab-Überlegungen – eine Tatsache\, die schon manche Zuhörer*in\, Rezensent*in oder Musikerkolleg*in verwirrt hat\, klingt doch vieles an der Musik des Trios „wie auskomponiert“. \nKaufmann/Gratkowski/de Joode unternahmen 2007 und 2009 jeweils mehrwöchige Tourneen nach Nordamerika (u.a. Roulette New York\, Princeton University\, Earshot Festival Seattle\, Mills College Oakland\, Umbrella Festival Chicago\, New Orleans\, Vancouver\, Toronto\, Montréal) sowie Anfang 2020 nach Australien und Südostasien. \nSie traten quer durch Europa auf vielen wichtigen Bühnen und Festivals auf (BIMhuis Amsterdam; Porgy und Bess Wien; Ars Nova Festival (SWR); Ring Ring Festival Belgrad; De Singel Antwerpen; Musée d’art moderne Strasbourg; Exploratorium Berlin\, Alternativa Festival Prag\, Klangspuren Festival). \n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrank Gratkowski – alto saxophone\, clarinets\, flutes\nAchim Kaufmann – piano\nWilbert de Joode – bass\nFrom January 2024 on\, the concerts at the LOFT start round 8.00 pm\nExceptions – e.g. on Sundays – are possible.\n\nFurther information about prices\, ticket reservations and our opening times can be found here. \n\n\nThe trio came together for the first time in early 2002 in Amsterdam\, the first concert at LOFT dates back to April 2\, 2003. \nSince then\, the three musicians have continuously developed and deepened their music on many tours and concerts\, which can be heard on five CDs (all recorded at the LOFT) – kwast (Konnex)\, unearth (nuscope)\, palaë (Leo)\, geäder (gligg) sowie oblengths\, released by Leo Records in early 2016.\nThe latest work Canberra was released at the end of October 2023 as a digital release and on vinyl on Trokaan. \nKaufmann/Gratkowski/de Joode unite the transparency of contemporary chamber music – incorporating silence as well as slipping into noise realms that are then reinterpreted and punctuated by relics of almost tonal piano chords – with the energy\, pointedness\, and unpredictability of jazz and other more rhythmically aggressive music. \nFrom the beginning\, the trio’s music was freely improvised\, born of the moment. There were and are no rehearsals or agreements\, no conceptual considerations in advance – a fact that has puzzled many a listener\, reviewer or fellow musician\, since much of the trio’s music sounds „as if composed“. \nKaufmann/Gratkowski/de Joode toured North America for several weeks in 2007 and 2009 (including Roulette New York\, Princeton University\, Earshot Festival Seattle\, Mills College Oakland\, Umbrella Festival Chicago\, New Orleans\, Vancouver\, Toronto\, Montréal) and in early 2020 to Australia and Southeast Asia. \nThey have performed across Europe at many important stages and festivals (BIMhuis Amsterdam; Porgy und Bess Vienna; Ars Nova Festival (SWR); Ring Festival Belgrade; De Singel Antwerp; Musée d’art moderne Strasbourg; Exploratorium Berlin\, Alternativa Festival Prague\, Klangspuren Festival). \n
