In diesem Duo werden Kompositionen zu offenen Räumen: Eine Melodie kann sich in Rhythmus verwandeln\, eine Struktur kann sich zur Improvisation öffnen und aus einer Improvisation kann wieder Komposition entstehen.\nDas Repertoire verbindet eigene Kompositionen von Matos\, neu interpretierte Standards und freie Improvisation. Violine\, Violoncello\, Piano und Stimme werden dabei zu unterschiedlichen Klangfarben innerhalb einer gemeinsamen Sprache.\nEs ist weder traditionelle kubanische noch polnische Musik. Es ist eine transkulturelle Musik\, geprägt von den Erfahrungen beider Musiker: Kuba\, Brasilien\, Europa\, Jazz\, zeitgenössische Komposition und Improvisation. Daraus entsteht ein eigenständiger\, rhythmischer und offener Klang\, in dem Präzision und Virtuosität auf Spontaneität treffen. \nBeide Musiker haben bereits im Rahmen von Eko Jazz Cuba\, einem Projekt von Matos\, gemeinsam auf der Bühne gestanden. Nun führen sie diese musikalische Verbindung im Duo weiter: direkter\, offener und unvorhersehbarer.\nDas Publikum erwartet eine Musik\, die sich ständig zwischen Komposition und Spontaneität\, zwischen Intimität und klanglicher Explosion bewegt. \nZwei Musiker. In this duo\, compositions become open spaces: a melody can transform into rhythm\, a structure can open up to improvisation\, and improvisation can give rise to composition once again.\nTheir repertoire combines Matos’s original compositions\, reinterpreted standards\, and free improvisation. It is a transcultural music\, shaped by the experiences of both musicians: Cuba\, Brazil\, Europe\, jazz\, contemporary composition\, and improvisation. The result is a distinctive\, rhythmic\, and open sound in which precision and virtuosity meet spontaneity. \nBoth musicians have previously shared the stage as part of Eko Jazz Cuba\, a project by Matos. Now they are continuing this musical collaboration as a duo: more direct\, more open\, and more unpredictable.\nThe audience can expect music that constantly shifts between composition and spontaneity\, between intimacy and sonic explosion. \n\nYaniel Matos\, composer\, cellist\, pianist\, and singer\, looks back on a decades-long international career spanning Cuba\, Brazil\, and Europe. With more than seven albums to his credit\, his work is characterized by a spirit of experimentation and the freedom to move between composition\, jazz\, improvisation\, and various musical traditions. \nRadek Stawarz\, a violinist born in Poland who has lived in Cologne for many years\, is an active musician in Cologne’s jazz\, improvisation\, and contemporary music scenes. His classical training and his experience with jazz\, folk\, new music\, and free improvisation have shaped a particularly flexible and expressive playing style.
