Jelena Potschka:\nInspiriert von der warmen\, flexiblen Stimme der jungen Jazzsängerin Jelena Potschka\, komponierte die Vibraphonistin und Schlagzeugerin Marianne Steffen-Wittek melodiöse Stücke für das erste Set dieses Abends. Es sind dennoch keine konventionellen Songs dabei entstanden; die Stimme bereichert  vielmehr als fünftes Instrument das eingespielte Quartett Bridge The Gap. Das Spielvergnügen und die Offenheit für Überraschendes stehen bei der gemeinsamen musikalischen Interaktion dieser Formation im Vordergrund. \nhttps://www.steffen-wittek.com/Bridge-The-Gap/ \nJelena Potschka studierte Jazzgesang in Osnabrück bei Anne Hartkamp\, war Sängerin u.a. bei Mels Fluo und lebt in Köln. \nMarianne Steffen-Wittek\, emeritierte Professorin für Rhythmik (Musik & Bewegung)\, spielt(e) Vibraphon\, Drumset und Percussion im Bereich der Neuen Musik und der Jazzimprovisation\, in verschiedenen Formationen vom Duo bis zu großen Ensembles und Orchestern. Zahlreiche Konzertreisen führten zu interessanten Begegnungen mit Musiker*innen u.a. in Europa\, Palästina und China. Aus dem Duo Scordatura und dem Trio Scordatura ging ihr heutiges Quartett Bridge The Gap hervor. \nMartin Kübert reiste als Pianist auf zahlreichen Tourneen und Konzerten in West- und Ostafrika\, Madagascar\, Australien/Neuseeland\, Indien\, Myanmar\, Dubai\, Bahrein und Türkei. Er spielt(e) u.a. mit Ballhaus\, Bantu\, Christina Lux\, Dunyabélé\, Ebi\, Finküberthurm\, Mama Afrika\, StevenOumaBand\, Tabadoul Orchestra\, Ulla Oster und Wütrio. \nStefan Potschka war Bassist in der Berliner Rock-\, Pop- und Jazzszene; später verlegte er seine Tätigkeit als Musiker in den Kölner Raum; als Jazzbassist nahm er an verschiedenen Jazzfestivals und Tourneen in Europa teil. Er ist Komponist von Rock- und Jazzmusik und auf zahlreichen Einspielungen von LPs und CDs zu hören. \nFritz Wittek spielte als Schlagzeuger auf weltweiten Tourneen im Auftrag des Goethe-Instituts in Osteuropa\, Skandinavien\, Mittel- und Südamerika\, Nord-\, Süd- und Ostafrika. Er war Mitglied zahlreicher Bands wie Wittek-Kaiser-Manderscheid (3 LPs)\, Jazzhaus-Bigband\, TOME XX (mehrere LPs und CDs)\, Anne Hartkamp (CD)\, Duo Scordatura\, Trio Scordatura (CD)\, Maturato; er wirkte bei Rundfunk- und Fernsehproduktionen im In- und Ausland mit. \n\nBlushda tl B. Wittek © Peter Tümmers\nBlushda:\n\nIm Projekt Blushda spielen drei junge Nachwuchs-Jazzer*innen zusammen mit Marianne Steffen-Wittek und Fritz Wittek. Einige Stücke erinnern an die legendäre Frauenjazzband „F“\, die seinerzeit die Platte „Schwarzwaldmädel“ beim Jazzhaus Label in Kooperation mit dem WDR herausbrachte. Andere Stücke sind relativ neu und auf Blushda zugeschnitten. Die Bandmitglieder bringen vielfältige Improvisationserfahrungen mit und spielen in dieser Besetzung zum ersten Mal öffentlich zusammen. Dabei werden sie sich von der risikofreudigen Atmosphäre im LOFT anregen lassen. \nAnna Größbrink\, studiert an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln Elementare Musikpädagogik mit dem Hauptfach Jazzkontrabass bei Robert Landfermann und bewegt sich vorrangig in der freien Jazzszene.\nDer in Großbritannien geborene Ben Jones absolvierte ein Studium der Musikwissenschaft in England\, bevor er 2022 nach Köln zog\, um an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln bei Frank Gratkowski und Roger Hanschel zu studieren.\nShuyue Zhang studierte Komposition in China\, anschließend Jazzklavier bei Erek Siebel\, Christian von der Goltz\, Achim Kaufmann und Elias Stemeseder.\nAls Jazzmusiker lebt er heute in Berlin. \n\n\n\nBridge The Gap:\nJelena Potschka – vocals\nMarianne Steffen-Wittek – vibraphone & composition\nMartin Kübert – piano\nStefan Potschka – bass\nFritz Wittek – drums \n& \nBlushda:\nBen Jones – alto saxophone\nMarianne Steffen-Wittek – vibraphone\, percussion & composition\nShuyue Zhang – piano & keyboards\nAnna Größbrink – bass\nFritz Wittek – drums \nFrom January 2024 on\, the concerts at the LOFT start round 8.00 pm\nExceptions – e.g. on Sundays – are possible.\nFurther information about prices\, ticket reservations and our opening times can be found here. \nBridge The Gap feat. Nevertheless\, no conventional songs were created; rather\, the voice enriches the recorded quartet Bridge The Gap as a fifth instrument. He is a composer of rock and jazz music and can be heard on numerous LP and CD recordings. \nFritz Wittek has played as a drummer on worldwide tours on behalf of the Goethe Institute in Eastern Europe\, Scandinavia\, Central and South America\, North\, South and East Africa. He was a member of numerous bands such as Wittek-Kaiser-Manderscheid (3 LPs)\, Jazzhaus-Bigband\, TOME XX (several LPs and CDs)\, Anne Hartkamp (CD)\, Duo Scordatura\, Trio Scordatura (CD)\, Maturato; he took part in radio and television productions at home and abroad. \n\nBlushda:\nIn the Blushda project\, three young up-and-coming jazz musicians play together with Marianne Steffen-Wittek and Fritz Wittek. Some of the pieces are reminiscent of the legendary female jazz band ‘F’\, which released the record ‘Schwarzwaldmädel’ on the Jazzhaus label in cooperation with WDR. Other pieces are relatively new and tailored to Blushda. The band members have a wide range of improvisation experience and are playing together in public for the first time in this line-up. They will be inspired by the risk-taking atmosphere in the LOFT. \nAnna Größbrink\, studies EMP at the HfMT Cologne\, majoring in jazz double bass with Robert Landfermann and is primarily active in the independent jazz scene.\nBritish-born Ben Jones studied musicology in England before moving to Cologne in 2022 to study with Frank Gratkowski and Roger Hanschel at the HfMT Cologne. \nShuyue Zhang studied composition in China\, then jazz piano with Erek Siebel\, Christian von der Goltz\, Achim Kaufmann and Elias Stemeseder. He now lives as a jazz musician in Berlin.
