Bei diesem einmaligen Konzert im LOFT trifft er mit Simon Nabatov und Frank Gratkowski auf zwei Musiker\, die das Programm und den Erfolg dieses Spielorts seit Jahrzehnten maßgeblich prägen. Das Konzert wird vom LOFT-eigenen Tonstudio live mitgeschnitten. \nMoore met Nabatov after his first performance at The Loft with the Tim O’Dwyer trio in 2014. Three years later\, Moore and Nabatov embarked on a 6-city tour of Japan joined by Akira Sakata on saxophone and Takashi Seo on bass. In 2016\, Moore invited Gratowski to be a guest with his noise-jazz trio Game of Patience for a series of concerts in Malaysia. The Loft performance on September 12\, 2018 will see the debut performance of the Moore/Nabatov/Gratowski trio. \nMoore will be in Europe as the musical director of the ‘cellF’ project which is the world’s first neuron-driven modular synthesizer that will be featured at Todays Art festival in The Hague\, Netherlands. The unique project created by artist-scientists Guy-Ben Ary\, Nathan Thompson\, Andrew Fitch and Darren Moore brings together neurons\, synthesizers and human musicians perform live improvised sound pieces. cellF will perform with Jaap Blonk and Han Bennink over 21-23 September. \nhttp://todaysart.nl\nhttp://guybenary.com/work/cellf/\nhttp://darren-moore.net \n\n\nDarren Moore \nBorn in Scotland\, raised in Australia and based in Singapore\, Darren Moore (b. 1974) is a drummer and electronic musician whose approach to music balances fire and energy with subtlety and timing. He considers creative improvisation as central to his artistic practice whether he is making music on the drums or analogue modular synthesisers. He works predominantly in the fields of jazz\, rock\, experimental and improvised music styles and has performed throughout Australia\, South-East Asia\, Japan and Europe. \nDarren moved to Tokyo in mid-2015 and quickly established himself as an exciting new voice on the music scene. In Japan he collaborates with Tokyo’s most adventurous improvisers including Akira Sakata\, Hirose Junji\, Fumio Itabashi\, Toshimaru Nakamura\, Kazuhisa Uchihachi\, T. Mikawa\, Hirose Hasegawa\, Otomo Yoshihide\, Jim O’Rourke\, Suga Dairo\, Cal Lyall and Akira Ishii to name a few. \nHe is the musical director for the cellF project which is the world’s first neuron-driven analogue synthesiser and works with Brian O’Reilly in the A/V modular synthesiser duo Black Zenith. Other collaborators include Yong Yandsen\, Simon Nabatov\, Clayton Thomas\, Tim O’Dwyer\, Suresh Vaidyanathan\, Jon Rose and Chris Abrahams.\nwww.darren-moore.net \n\n\nFrank Gratkowski ist ein in Berlin lebender freischaffender Saxofonist\, Klarinettist\, Flötist\, Improvisator und Komponist. Er studierte an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln\, an welcher er seit über 20 Jahren unterrichtet. Frank Gratkowski veröffentlichte mehr als 30 CDs unter seinem Namen und ist auf vielen weiteren als „sideman“ zu hören. Seine musikalische Spannbreite ist sehr vielschichtig und beinhaltet u.A. experimentelle Musik\, Jazz\, improvisierte Musik\, Neue Musik\, Rock und Elektronische Musik. Er konzertiert weltweit von Solo bis Orchestermusik und komponiert für verschiedene Ensembles\, in letzter Zeit mit einem Fokus auf Mikrotonalität. \nSeine Hauptprojekte sind zu Zeit:\n„Artikulationen“ (Solomusik für Saxophon und Klarinetten)\n„Artikulationen E“ (Solomusik für Saxophon und 8 Kanal Live Elektronik)\n„Z-Country Paradise“ (mit Jelena Kujic – Stimme\, Kalle Kalima – Gitarre\, Oliver Portal – E-Bass\, Christian Marien – Schlagzeug)\n„Frank Gratkowski Quartet“ (mit Wolter Wierbos – Posaune\, Dieter Manderscheid – Kontrabass und Gerry Hemingway – Schlagzeug)\n„Instant Songs“ (Duo mit dem Posaunisten – Sebi Tramontana)\nTrio „Kaufmann/Gratkowski/DeJoode“ (mit Achim Kaufmann – Klavier\, Wilbert DeJoode – Bass) auch plus Tony Buck\, Okkyung Lee and Richard Barret als SKEIN.\n„Fo[u]r Alto“ (Mikrotonale Musik für 4 Altsaxophone) \nwww.gratkowski.com \n\nDer Pianist und Komponist Simon Nabatov wurde in Moskau 1959 geboren\, studierte an Moskauer Konservatorium und setzte nach der Emigration seiner Familie nach New York 1979 dort seine Ausbildung an der Juilliard School of Music fort. \nSeine Aktivitäten umfassen Jazz\, improvisierte\, experimentelle und Weltmusik. \nDer Pianist wurde 1987 mit dem Förderpreis von „National Endowment for the Arts“\, Washington\, D.C. ausgezeichnet. 1989 wurde er zum Preisträger des ersten „Martial Solal International Jazz Piano Competition“ in Paris. \nSimon Nabatov hat sich als international renommierter Spieler in Soloarbeit sowie in zahlreichen Kollaborationen längst einen Namen gemacht\, u.a. in kontinuierlicher Zusammenarbeit in Duos mit Steve Lacy\, Nils Wogram\, Matthias Schubert\, Tom Rainey\, Ernst Reijseger\, Gareth Lubbe und Hayden Chisholm; in Quartetts von Ray Anderson\, Arthur Blythe\, Perry Robinson\, Nils Wogram und Matthias Schubert; sowie mit der NDR Bigband und dem Klaus König Orchestra. \nSeine aktuelle Bands und Projekte umfassen\, unter anderen\, das Simon Nabatov Trio mit Stefan Schönegg und Dominik Mahnig\, das «Trio Braz» mit André de Cayres und Rodrigo Villalón\, das Trio «Luminous» mit Barry Guy und Gerry Hemingway\, sowie das Simon Nabatov «String Trio» mit Gareth Lubbe und Ben Davis. \nSeine aktuellen Soloprogramme beschäftigen sich mit Brasilianischer Musik\, mit den Stücken von Herbie Nichols und Thelonious Monk\, sowie mit eigenen elektro-akustischen Stücken. \nNabatov hat bei den zahlreichen Festivalauftritten\, Konzerttourneen\, Rundfunk-Produktionen und Workshops in über 60 Ländern der Welt gewirkt.
