DESCRIPTION:Angelika Sheridan –  fl.\, bassfl.\nNorbert Rodenkirchen – traversflöten\nStephan Rath – theorbe\nScott Fields – classical guitar \n\nCounterpart ist ein neu gegründetes Ensemble für zeitgenössische Musik\, das Instrumentalisten der alten Musik mit ihren Gegenübern aus der neuen Musik zusammenbringt. Zur Zeit spielt die Gruppe Kompositionen von Rodenkirchen und Fields. In Zukunft hofft das Ensemble\, Arbeiten von anderen Komponisten in Auftrag geben zu können. Es entwickelte sich aus dem Duo Fields + Rath\, das seine Zusammenarbeit begann\, als die Musik Triennale Köln 2007 eine Reihe präsentierte\, die  Solisten der historischen Aufführungspraxis mit Solisten der neuen Musik\, die ähnliche Instrumente spielten\,  kombinierte. Seither haben Fields – Rath eine CD aufgenommen  (NEOS Music\, München)  und eine Reihe von Konzerten absolviert. Jetzt ist Counterpart:counterpart  als Stammensemble ein Quartett\, das aber je nach Projekt erweitert werden soll: jeweils mit wechselnden Gästen\, in paarweiser Aufteilung eines Instrumententyps in seiner Version in der alten Musik sowie seines Nachfolgers in der neuen Musik. \nwww.scottfields.com \nwww.norbertrodenkirchen.de \nwww.myspace.com/angelikasheridan \n\nCounterpart is a new ensemble that matches Early Music instrumentalists with their New Music equivalents. The members are Stephan Rath (theorbe)\, Scott Fields (classical guitar)\, Norbert Rodenkirchen (early flutes)\, and Angelika Sheridan (contemporary flutes). Improvisation is an important component of many Early Music and New Music compositions and this ensemble works within the tradition of mixing composed and improvised elements. Currently the group plays compositions by Rodenkirchen and Fields. In the future the group hopes to commission material from other composers. \nCounterpart:counterpart grew out of the duo of Fields and Rath\, who first started playing together when the 2007 MusikTriennale Köln presented a series of concerts that matched Early Music soloists with New Music soloists playing similar instruments. Since then Fields-Rath has released a CD on the Munich label NEOS and have played concerts in a variety of settings. Counterpart:counterpart plans to maintain its size as a core of four musicians\, but in many performances to augment the group with varying pairings of Early Music and New Music artists.
