Ihnen war klar\, dass\, wenn sie ein weiteres Instrument dazu nehmen\, es das Schlagzeug sein muss\, weil das sie in ihrer Suche nach Struktur und Form in der improvisierten Musik eher unterstützt und fordert. Ihre Wahl fiel auf Tom Rainey\, mit dem New Yorker spielen sie seit 2016 im Trio.\nDie Exploration des Klangs im Moment seines Entstehens: Um nichts anderes scheint es Schultze\, Ehwald und Rainey zu gehen. It was clear to them that if they were to add another instrument\, it would have to be the drums\, because they were more likely to be supported and challenged in their search for structure and form in improvised music. Their choice fell on Tom Rainey\, with whom they have been playing in a trio since 2016.\nThe exploration of sound at the moment of its creation: Schultze\, Ehwald and Rainey seem to be interested in nothing else. An interval from the piano\, an overblown note from the tenor saxophone or a rhythmic pattern from the cymbal becomes the impulse for an excursion in the flow of improvising together: intuitive in posture\, differentiated in phrasing and introspective in timbre.
