In der diesjährigen Ausgabe der Monday Meetings unter dem Motto Coalesce (engl. “zusammenschließen”\, “vereinen”) wird das bestehende Format der Begegnung intensiviert. Soweto Kinch wird sich zwei Tage im Kölner LOFT einquartiere und mit einer neuen Band ein neues Programm erarbeiten und präsentieren. \nDer preisgekrönte Altsaxophonist Soweto Kinch ist einer der aufregendsten und vielseitigsten jungen Musiker sowohl in der britischen Jazz- als auch in der Hip-Hop-Szene. Als einer der wenigen Künstler in beiden Genres mit einem Abschluss in Moderner Geschichte von der Universität Oxford hat er auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks eine beeindruckende Liste von Auszeichnungen und Preisen angehäuft – er gewann seinen zweiten MOBO Award in London\, wo er als Gewinner in der Kategorie „Bester Jazz Act“ bekannt gegeben wurde – und setzte sich damit gegen die starke Konkurrenz von Wynton Marsalis durch.
