So spielte Weidner mit 18 Jahren zur selben Zeit im BuJazzO wie mit Gunter Hampel und mit Albert Mangelsdorff\, später mit “Mezzoforte” ebenso wie mit “Der Rote Bereich“. Er studierte Saxofon an Musikhochschulen in Hamburg\, Stockholm und Berlin\, wo er seit 1999 lebt.\nIn seinen eigenen Projekten und Kompositionen zeigt sich die klare Entwicklung einer ganz eigenen unverwechselbaren Klangsprache\, die geprägt ist von einer sinnlich-lebendigen Schönheit und von einer konsequenten künstlerischen Ausrichtung\, die immer danach fragt\, was innig resoniert und berührt.\nSeit 2003 verbindet Christian Weidner eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit Jason Seizer\, dem Produzenten des Münchner Jazzlabels Pirouet. Die Musik seines Quartetts mit Achim Kaufmann (p)\, Henning Sieverts (b) und Samuel Rohrer (dr) fand dort ebenso seine Heimat wie die des Kathrin Pechlof Trios. Dieses Trio\, in dem Weidner mit seiner Lebensgefährtin Kathrin Pechlof (Harfe) und Robert Landfermann (b) spielt\, wurde 2021 wurde in der Kategorie „Rundfunkproduktion des Jahres“ nominiert für den „Deutschen Jazzpreis“. \nhttp://www.christianweidner.de/ \nhttps://www.pirouet.de/weidner.html \nFelix Hauptmann\nAls Pianist und Komponist ist Felix Hauptmann Teil der jungen\, progressiven Jazzszene und hauptsächlich mit seinem Ensemble PERCUSSION aktiv\, ein akustisches Klaviertrio mit Roger Kintopf (Bass) und Leif Berger (Drums). Er arbeitet darüber hinaus mit diversen Ensembles wie dem Fabian Dudek Quartett\, dem Pascal Klewer Quintett & Bigband sowie dem Berthold Brauer Sextett zusammen. Seit 2020 ist er Dozent für Jazzpiano an der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal. It is a delicate balance between the known and the unknown\, the tested and the untried\, it is a musical flow state and I underscore it here because this kind of improvising is still\, even in 2024\, a rarity in jazz and a quality to admire and behold.”\nexcerpt from the Liner Notes by Hayden Chisholm\, July 2024 \n\nChristian Weidner\nChristian Weidner is a composer whose music is strongly characterized by a reflection on inner peace and prudence\, from which multifaceted compositions grow. Colored by a kind of inner immigration from the mainstream\, whose workings he knows exactly – he already played in the BuJazzO at the age of 17 – but avoids them unerringly. The Berlin alto saxophonist refuses to be superficial\, not stubbornly\, but firmly. He also rarely indulges in pure virtuosity. It is always about the search for the reason\, for depth\, inner peace and spiritual power. Encounters with Kenny Werner and Charlie Mariano and years of playing with Gunter Hampel and Albert Mangelsdorff have had an influence here. He studied saxophone at music academies in Hamburg\, Stockholm and Berlin\, where he has lived since 1999. Since 2003\, Christian Weidner has worked closely with Jason Seizer\, the producer of the Munich jazz label Pirouet.
