Es besteht aus einer Installation in der Halbwüste des Karoo\, einem Hörspiel\, einer Buchedition und einer Plattenveröffentlichung. Der finale\, fünfte Teil des Projektes ist eine Live-Version\, die nun in Köln präsentiert wird. \nmit Stimmbeiträgen von\nRichard John Forbes\, Maja Marx\, Phala Ookeditse Phala\, Victoria Wigzell\, Tubatsi Mpho Moloi\, Linda Diederiks\, Willem Boshoff\, Liza Grobler\, Nkosinathi Gumede\, Karlien van Rooyen\, Mongezi Ncombo\, Ivan Messelaar\, Gerhard Marx und Lindiwe Matshikiza \n\nBoris Baltschun\, Desert Dictionary\nAus Anlass der Veröffentlichung der Desert Dictionary LP auf arbitrary hat Boris Baltschun eine Live-Version für ein Ensemble aus vier Performer:innen konzipiert. Diese Live-Version wiederholt den Prozess der Übersetzung von in der Wüste angefertigten Textnotizen in einen Soundtrack in Echtzeit. Die im Studio entwickelte Multitrack-Komposition wird Live mithilfe von analogen Modularsynthesizern und einer Auswahl aus Wortbeiträgen aus dem Desert Dictionary realisiert.\nDas Wörterbuch wird dabei zum Vehikel zur Navigation durch klangliche Territorien\, die zwischen Sprache und Landschaft\, Notation und Geräusch oszillieren. Unterschiedliche Stimmen tragen mit ihren Einträgen in das Wörterbuch zu einer komplementären Erzählung bei\, die persönliche Erinnerungen\, politische Erwägungen und psychologische Effekte einer scheinbar leeren Landschaft reflektieren. Damit verflochten ist eine Komposition\, die Textnotizen mithilfe von analoger Modularsynthese in Klang übersetzt. It consists of an installation in the semi-desert of the Karoo\, a radio play\, a book edition and a record release. This live version repeats the process of translating text notes made in the desert into a soundtrack in real time. The multitrack composition developed in the studio is realized live with the help of analog modular synthesizers and a selection of word contributions from the Desert Dictionary.\nThe dictionary becomes a vehicle for navigating through sonic territories that oscillate between language and landscape\, notation and noise. With their entries in the dictionary\, different voices contribute to a complementary narrative that reflects personal memories\, political considerations and psychological effects of a seemingly empty landscape. Interwoven with this is a composition that translates text notes into sound using analog modular synthesis.
