Beide Formationen spielen ausschließlich Eigenkompositionen und Lieblingsstücke der Vokalistin\, die sie während ihrer Studienzeit geschrieben oder für sich entdeckt hat. \nDas Konzertrepertoire reicht von Gedichtvertonungen über Vocalesen bis hin zu Neutextungen von Jazzstandards und schafft dabei Klangwelten\, die berühren\, irritieren und nachhallen. Sie vereint modernen lyrischen Jazz mit der Möglichkeit\, die Stimme als Instrument auch ohne Text zu nutzen\, um so mit den anderen Instrumenten zu verschmelzen – nur um im nächsten Moment wieder erzählend in den Vordergrund zu treten.\nEs entsteht ein lebendiger Dialog zwischen Wort und Klang\, Tradition und Gegenwart mit Raum für Improvisation. \n\nLilith Walkenhorst Quintet:\nLilith Walkenhorst – vocals\, composition\nPaula Steimer – alto saxophone\nPhilip Weyand – piano\nXaver Feest – bass\nJakob Görris – drums \n+ Large Ensemble:\nBennet Agah – flute\, soprano saxophone\nIara Serodio – tenor saxophone\nJohannes Knoll – trumpet\, flugelhorn\nMelker Annas – trombone \nFurther information about prices\, ticket reservations and our opening times can be found here.\nLilith Walkenhorst is a young jazz vocalist and composer who studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln\, among others with Anette von Eichel and Theresia Philipp.\nFor her Bachelor’s degree recital\, she is presenting not only the Lilith Walkenhorst Quintet but also assembling a Large Ensemble based on the quintet for the first time. Both formations perform exclusively original compositions and favorite pieces the vocalist wrote or discovered for herself during her studies. \nThe concert repertoire ranges from poem settings and vocalese to new lyrics for jazz standards\, creating soundscapes that touch\, unsettle\, and resonate. She combines modern lyrical jazz with the possibility of using the voice as an instrument without text\, merging with the other instruments – only to step back into the foreground as a storyteller in the next moment.\nThe result is a lively dialogue between word and sound\, tradition and the present\, with room for improvisation.
