Sie ist eine Saxophonistin und Flötistin\, die es vermeidet Erwartungen zu erfüllen. Mit ihrer neuen Platte Percussive Mechanics\, welche in der New York Times sowie auf NPR vorgestellt wurde\, hat sie sich zudem als eine vorwärts denkende Komponistin etabliert. Ihr kürzlich mit John Hollenbeck und Matt Mitchell aufgenommenes Trio Album wird im September 2014 auf Skirl Records erscheinen. Webber tourte in den USA\, Kanada und Europa. In 2014 hat sie die BMI Foundation Charlie Parker Composition Prize gewonnen\, als Mitgleid in die BMI Jazz Composers’ Workshop. Sie war des weiteren Gewinnerin des Prix François-Marcaurelle im Rahmen des Montreal OFF Jazz Festivals im Jahr 2010. \nPercussive Mechanics is the brainchild of tenor saxophonist\, flutist\, and composer Anna Webber. At the band’s conception in 2011\, Webber was living in Berlin; obsessively listening to Morton Feldman\, Milton Babbitt and Bob Brookmeyer; repetitively conjugating verbs and declining adjectives in German; attempting meditation; and recklessly riding her blue and gold 1951 DDR-era bicycle through Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. These seemingly unrelated influences were channeled into music Webber was composing for her brand-new septet. \nThe band\, now just over three years old\, has toured in Europe and North America\, released two albums on Pirouet Records\, and was a semi-finalist for the Neue Deutsche Jazzpreis in 2014.
