Ist das die nahende Apokalypse? Wohl kaum. Und doch – es ist eine besondere Zeit.\nFür den deutschen Kontrabassisten und Komponisten Andreas Pientka ein idealer Zeitpunkt für Gedankenexperimente. Pientka ist dabei ganz Denker\, Grübler und Reisender\, dessen Forschungsfeld gleichermaßen explosive Experimentierfläche wie philosophische Abhandlung ist. Mit seinem Debütalbum „Tiefe Nacht“ bewegt sich der gebürtige Dattelner mit seinem hochklassig besetzten Tentett auf Goethes Spuren und nimmt dessen literarische Figur des Faust zum Anlass\, um Anhaltspunkte auf die Frage zu finden\, was denn nun die Welt im innersten zusammenhält. Schwere Kost für ein Debüt möchte man meinen. \nhttps://andreaspientka.com/ \nPientka meistert diese Herausforderung mit Ehrfurcht und einer gehörigen Portion Selbstbewusstsein. Schwebend gleiten seine Kompositionen zwischen Jazz und Klassik\, streifen Grenzbereiche und finden ungeahnte Gemeinsamkeiten. Bei einem Tentett\, also einem echten „Large Ensemble“\, das sich im unbetonnten Fahrwasser zwischen Klassik und Jazz bewegt\, fallen unweigerlich die Großtaten von Arrangeur Gil Evans ein. Die Kompositionen von Pientka greifen diesen Geist auf\, klingen jedoch frisch\, lebendig und trotz allem Traditionsbewusstsein nah am Zeitgeist. Flotte Bebop-Passagen\, hymnische Filmmusik-Anleihen\, fordernder Modern-Jazz\, groovender Pop und treibender akustischer Techno vereinen sich in den Stücken des jungen Musikers in Ekstase und Tiefgang. \nBei aller kompositorischer Dichte und Detailversessenheit bleiben die Kompositionen von Pientka vor allem eins – menschlich. Eben so menschlich\, wie jene Fragen\, die schon Goethe seinen Faust stellen ließ und die bis heute unbeantwortet bleiben. Is this the approaching apocalypse? Hardly. And yet – it is a special time.\nFor German double bassist and composer Andreas Pientka\, it’s an ideal time for thought experiments. With his debut album „Tiefe Nacht“ (Deep Night)\, the Datteln native and his top-class tentet follow in Goethe’s footsteps and take his literary figure Faust as an opportunity to find clues to the question of what holds the world together at its core. His compositions glide between jazz and classical music\, touching on border areas and finding unexpected common ground. With a tentet\, i.e. a real „large ensemble“\, moving in the unstressed waters between classical and jazz\, the great deeds of arranger Gil Evans inevitably come to mind. Pientka’s compositions take up this spirit\, but sound fresh\, lively and close to the spirit of the times\, despite all awareness of tradition. Snappy bebop passages\, anthemic film music borrowings\, demanding modern jazz\, grooving pop and driving acoustic techno unite in ecstasy and depth in the pieces of the young musician. \nFor all their compositional density and obsession with detail\, Pientka’s compositions remain one thing above all – human. Just as human as those questions that Goethe had his Faust ask and that remain unanswered to this day.
