DESCRIPTION:Nils Wogram – Posaune\nHayden Chisholm – Saxophon\nMatt Penman – Bass\nJochen Rueckert – Schlagzeug \nvery special guests:\nShannon Barnett – Posaune\nTheresia Philipp – Saxophon\nNellie Hächler – spoken word\nGareth Lubbe – Viola \n\n(english: see below) \n\nTickets für 25 years pristine sound of Root 70: 25\,- €\n  \ntop: Root 70 in 2000 © Petia Charkova ; bottom: Root 70 in 2024 © Telemach Wiesinger\nEs muss schon einiges an menschlichen Voraussetzungen und musikalischem Potential zusammenkommen\, wenn eine working band 25 Jahre zusammenbleibt und während dieser Zeit kontinuierlich ein einzigartiges Werk auf höchstem Niveau schafft.\nDas war wohl der Fall\, als sich im Frühjahr 2000 die vier Musiker Nils Wogram\, Hayden Chisholm\, Matt Penman und Jochen Rueckert spontan zu einer Session trafen und das Gefühl hatten: das passt!\nDas erste öffentliche Konzert fand noch im selben Jahr unter dem Namen Root 70 im großen Zelt des Festivals in Moers statt\, dort aber noch nicht mit eigenen Kompositionen\, es war eher ein Versuchsballon. Doch Festivalleiter Burkhard Hennen und der WDR-Jazzredakteur Ullrich Kurth ahnten wohl schon damals\, was sie da auf der Bühne präsentierten. Das erste Konzert der ersten Tournee im Herbst 2000 fand dann im ausverkauften LOFT statt\, die Premiere in Frauenkleidern. Warum? Weil sie es wollten und konnten: sie waren damals junge Helden der Kölner Jazzszene und ihr Wohnzimmer (Michael Rüsenberg) war das LOFT. Und da sich noch kein anderes Label für die erste CD Root 70 interessierte\, erschien diese eben im LOFT-eigenen Label 2ndFLOOR Edition. \nEs würde schon einige Seiten füllen\, alle Konzerte und Erlebnisse der Bandmitglieder im LOFT hier zu erwähnen\, sei es das legendäre Doppel-Solo Konzert von Nils und Steve Lacy im Jahr 1998\, seine Duo- und Quartett Konzerte mit Simon Nabatov\, die Konzerte im Rahmen der TRIΔS-Projekte\, die zahllosen Konzerte von Hayden – z.B. sein Trio Breve mit Matt Penman und dem unvergessenen John Taylor – oder die 10 von ihm kuratierte PLUSHMUSIC Festivals.\nIm September 2012 durften wir im LOFT das preview von Root 70 with strings mit Gerdur Gunnarsdottir\, Garreth Lubbe und Adrian Brendel erleben\, nach diesem Konzert wurde dann im Deutschlandfunk die CD Riomar aufgenommen.\nUnd obwohl beide schon lange in New York leben\, waren und sind Jochen und Matt außer mit Root 70 oft bei uns zu Gast\, sei es als sidemen oder mit eigenen Projekten. \nZum Jubiläum haben sie als Gäste Theresia Philip\, Shannon Barnett\, Nellie Hächler und Gareth Lubbe eingeladen. Ein meet & greet voller Erinnerungen an alte Zeiten\, und neben den Kompositionen der letzten CD The Pristine Sound of Root 70 auch ein Zusammentreffen von acht herausragenden Musiker*innen machen dieses Jubiläums Konzert zu einem besonderen Ereignis. \n\nWir gratulieren der Band herzlich zu ihrem Silber-Jubiläum und hoffen\, dass sie es vielleicht sogar „vergolden“ können.\nFeiern Sie mit uns 25 Jahre Root 70\nGetränke und Snacks sind im Eintritt inbegriffen. \n  \n\n\nKlingt so: \n\n  \n\n\n\n\n  \nNils Wogram – trombone\nHayden Chisholm – saxophone\nMatt Penman – bass\nJochen Rueckert – drums \nvery special guests:\nShannon Barnett – trombone\nTheresia Philipp – saxophone\nNellie Hächler – spoken word\nGareth Lubbe – viola \n  \nFurther information about prices\, ticket reservations and our opening times can be found here. \n\nTickets for 25 years pristine sound of Root 70: 25\,- €\n\n\nIt takes a lot of human qualities and musical potential for a working band to stay together for 25 years and continuously create a unique work of the highest quality during this time.\nThis was probably the case when the four musicians Nils Wogram\, Hayden Chisholm\, Matt Penman and Jochen Rueckert met spontaneously for a session in the spring of 2000 and had the feeling: its a match! \nThe first public concert took place in the same year under the name Root 70 in the large tent of the festival in Moers\, but not yet with their own compositions\, it was more of a trial balloon. But festival director Burkhard Hennen and WDR jazz editor Ullrich Kurth probably already had an inkling of what they were presenting on stage. The first concert of the first tour in the fall of 2000 took place in the sold-out LOFT\, the premiere in women’s clothing. Why? Because they wanted to and could: they were young heroes of the Cologne jazz scene at the time and their living room (Michael Rüsenberg) was the LOFT. And since no other label was interested in their first CD Root 70\, it was released on LOFT’s own label 2ndFLOOR Edition. \nIt would fill several pages to mention all the concerts and experiences of the band members at the LOFT here\, be it the legendary double solo concert by Nils and Steve Lacy in 1998\, his duo and quartet concerts with Simon Nabatov\, the concerts as part of the TRIΔS projects\, the countless concerts by Hayden – e.g. his trio Breve with Matt Penman and the unforgettable John Taylor – or the 10 PLUSHMUSIC festivals he curated.\nIn September 2012\, we were able to experience the preview of Root 70 with strings with Gerdur Gunnarsdottir\, Garreth Lubbe and Adrian Brendel at the LOFT\, after which the CD Riomar was recorded at Deutschlandfunk.\nAnd although both have been living in New York for a long time\, Jochen and Matt have been and still are frequent guests here\, either as sidemen or with their own projects. \nFor the anniversary\, they have invited Theresia Philip\, Shannon Barnett\, Nellie Hächler and Gareth Lubbe as guests.
