Die eigenen Kompositionen zum Klingen zu bringen, diesem Bedürfnis folgt Marko Mebus, einer der aufstrebenden Trompeter der deutschen Szene, in dieser Formation. Durch die Individualität der preistragenden Musiker gewinnt das Gesamtbild an Ausdruck und die Kompositionen an Leben, aus Gedanken auf Papier entsteht eine Gratwanderung zwischen Tradition und Moderne, so frönt die Besetzung mal dem Sound der alten Größen, mal erklingt eine Hommage an die Pioniere des ECM-Jazz wie Kenny Wheeler, Ralph Towner und John Taylor – und dann wiederum nimmt die Musik des jungen Quintetts ihren ganz eigenen Weg.

To make one’s own compositions sound, Marko Mebus, one of the up-and-coming trumpeters of the German scene, follows this need in this formation. Through the individuality of the prize-bearing musicians, the overall picture gains in expression and the compositions in life, a tightrope walk between tradition and modernity emerges from thoughts on paper, so the line-up sometimes indulges in the sound of the old greats, sometimes sounds a tribute to the pioneers of ECM jazz such as Kenny Wheeler, Ralph Towner and John Taylor – and then again the music of the young quintet takes its very own path.
