Seit seinen Anfängen im Jahr 2008 hat sich Fukio auf die Interpretation von Musik für Saxophonquartett und der Erarbeitung eines neuen Repertoires konzentriert.
Das in Köln beheimatete Quartett hat sich an der HfMT Köln auf Neue Musik sowie am CNSMD in Paris auf Kammermusik spezialisiert und hat bereits persönlich mit renommierten Komponisten wie Georges Aperghis, Fabien Lévy und Georg Friedrich Haas zusammengearbeitet. Darüber hinaus arbeitet Fukio aktiv mit jungen Komponisten zusammen und schafft bei diesen Kollaborationen neue Literatur für Saxophonquartette. Erwähnenswert ist die Arbeit mit Lisa Streich, Matthias Krüger, Birke Bertelsmeier, Thierry Tidrow, Camilo Mendez-San Juan, Kenichi Ikuno, David Moliner, Francisco C. Goldschmidt sowie Sergej Maingardt. In den letzten Jahren hat das Quartett auf diese Weise mehr als zwanzig neue Werke zur Uraufführung gebracht.
Fukio tritt bei vielen etablierten Institutionen Europas, Asiens und Amerikas auf und ist bei zahlreichen internationalen Festivals vertreten, wie beispielsweise dem Tripclubbing der Kölner Philharmonie, den Intersonanzen Postdam, Young Euro Classics in Berlin, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in Großbritannien und Festival Internacional de Música Contemporanea ENSEMS in Spanien.
Das Quartett gewann 2014 den 1. Preis beim Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb für zeitgenössische Musik in Berlin und den 1. Preis beim Karlsruher Wettbewerb für die Interpretation Neue Musik. 2017 konnte Fukio den 1. Preis bei den Coop Music Awards in Mailand und beim 20. Internationalen Kammermusikwettbewerb in Illzach gewinnen. 2015 erhielt das Quartett ein Stipendium der Werner Richard-Dr. Carl Dörken-Stiftung sowie zuletzt den renommierten spanischen Preis FestClásica 2020.
Als Sieger des FMB-Hochschulwettbewerbs nahm es im Jahr 2014 seine erste CD auf, produziert vom Tonmeisterinstitut der UdK Berlin. Im Jahr 2016 erhielt Fukio im Rahmen von „Taste the Best“ – einer Förderinitiative der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, des Vereins der Freunde und Förderer der Hochschule und des WDR – die Möglichkeit, seine zweite CD – „Time in Motion“ – bei dem Label ARS zu veröffentlichen, begeisterte Kritiken der Fachpresse erhielt. Im Jahr 2019 wirkte Fukio an einer dritten CD mit, „Weiter“, einer Monografie des deutschen Komponisten Ralf Hoyer, produziert von Kreuzberg Records in Berlin. Fukio wurde vom WDR, Deutschlandfunk, SR 2 KulturRadio, RNE, Radio Catalunya und RTVE ausgestrahlt.
Die pädagogische Arbeit ist eine weitere zentrale Säule der Aktivitäten des Quartetts und geschieht u.a. in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Encontro Galego do Saxofon in Santiago de Compostela sowie bei Workshops an der University of East Anglia in Norwich, Großbritannien, der Universidad Autónoma Zacatecas, Mexiko, dem Konservatorium von Sevilla, dem MIT Ensemble in Taiwan und dem Conservatoire de Bordeaux Jacques Thibaud in Frankreich.

Since its beginnings in 2008, Fukio has focused on interpreting music for saxophone quartet and creating new repertoire.
Based in Cologne, Germany, the quartet has specialized in new music at the HfMT Cologne and chamber music at the CNSMD in Paris, and has personally collaborated with renowned composers such as Georges Aperghis, Fabien Lévy, and Georg Friedrich Haas. In addition, Fukio actively collaborates with young composers, creating new literature for saxophone quartets in these collaborations. Of note is work with Lisa Streich, Matthias Krüger, Birke Bertelsmeier, Thierry Tidrow, Camilo Mendez-San Juan, Kenichi Ikuno, David Moliner, Francisco C. Goldschmidt, and Sergej Maingardt. In recent years, the quartet has premiered more than twenty new works in this manner.
Fukio performs at many established institutions in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and has appeared at numerous international festivals, including Tripclubbing at the Cologne Philharmonic, Intersonanzen Postdam, Young Euro Classics in Berlin, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in the United Kingdom, and Festival Internacional de Música Contemporanea ENSEMS in Spain.
In 2014, the quartet won 1st prize at the Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy University Competition for Contemporary Music in Berlin and 1st prize at the Karlsruhe Competition for the Interpretation of New Music. In 2017, Fukio won 1st prize at the Coop Music Awards in Milan and at the 20th International Chamber Music Competition in Illzach. In 2015, the quartet received a scholarship from the Werner Richard-Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation and most recently the prestigious Spanish FestClásica 2020 prize.
As the winner of the FMB University Competition, it recorded its first CD in 2014, produced by the Tonmeisterinstitut of the UdK Berlin. In 2016, Fukio was given the opportunity to release its second CD – „Time in Motion“ – on the ARS label, as part of „Taste the Best“ – a support initiative of the Cologne University of Music and Dance, the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the University and WDR, receiving enthusiastic reviews from the specialized press. In 2019, Fukio collaborated on a third CD, „Weiter,“ a monograph by German composer Ralf Hoyer, produced by Kreuzberg Records in Berlin. Fukio has been broadcast by WDR, Deutschlandfunk, SR 2 KulturRadio, RNE, Radio Catalunya and RTVE.
Pedagogical work is another central pillar of the quartet’s activities and occurs in collaboration with the Encontro Galego do Saxofon in Santiago de Compostela, as well as workshops at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, United Kingdom, the Universidad Autónoma Zacatecas, Mexico, the Seville Conservatory, the MIT Ensemble in Taiwan, and the Conservatoire de Bordeaux Jacques Thibaud in France, among others.
